Notes sur les units :

Coldstream Guard : Le 2e rgiment de la garde est le plus ancien rgiment en service sans
interruption (depuis 1650). Ils portent le bonnet de fourrure des grenadiers

Scots Guard : Le 3e rgiment de la garde tait le rgiment de la garde du Royaume dEcosse avant la
runification. Ils portent le bonnet de fourrure des grenadiers. Lun des plus redouts et courageux.

60th Rifles Royal American : Les britanniques taient mauvais en troupes lgres de type
tirailleurs. A lexception de 3 rgiments : les 60th et 95th Rifles et les bataillons lgers de la KGL. Les
Royal Americans avaient luniforme rouge type. Des hachettes remplaaient les sabres. Une bonne
partie tait dorigine allemande. Leur devise tait Rapides et audacieux .

42nd Highlanders The Black Watch : Le 3e bataillon du rgiment royal dEcosse portait des tartans
trs sombres. Ils ont t crs pour affronter et dsarmer les Highlanders rebelles. Devise : Nemo me
impune lacessit (Personne ne me provoque impunment)

La Kings German Legion : Les forces venues de Hanovre, en Allemagne, taient rputes pour tre
efficaces et fiables. Contrairement aux autres units anglaises, les officiers suprieurs y taient trs
proches des hommes du rang et participaient leur entrainement. Leurs bataillons lgers
descarmouches taient parmi les meilleurs. Uniformes verts

95th Rifles The Prince Consorts Own : Surnomm les sauterelles grce
leur rapidit et leur agilit et leurs uniformes verts reconnaissables, le 95th Rifle
tait un des rares rgiments lgers anglais tre efficace sur le terrain.

88th Foot Devils Own : Les irlandais du comt de Connaught ont presque sauv la bataille de
Buaco eux seuls grce la rapidit de raction, leur courage et la violence de leur charge. Leur
tmrit et leur chance insouponne les ont fait surnomme Ceux du Diable . Devise : Quis
separabit ? ( Qui nous sparera ? )

Loyal Lusitania Legion : Cre pour faire face la Legion Lusitanienne de Napolon, les loyalistes
taient originaires des portugais installs au Royaume-Uni, avec parmi eux des britanniques et des
allemands. Ils taient de fait beaucoup mieux entrains, fiables et motivs. Ces irrguliers taient
principalement utiliss pour effectuer des raids et des actions de maraudes larrire de lignes
franaises. Ils portaient les couleurs vertes de la dernire famille rgnante du Portugal.

The Bulls Troop : Cette brigade dartillerie obtient ce surnom et les honneurs pour avoir charge la
cavalerie franaise qui lencerclait et menaait de la faire prisonnire. Leur perce russie leur permis
de rejoindre les troupes allies.

Ross Troop : La Chesnut troop tait appele ainsi car tous ses chevaux taient de couleur noisette,
ce qui tait relativement rares. Wellington tait trs intress par leur fait et geste, du fait de leur
efficacit. Ils virent leur surnom tre transform en titre honorifique unique par le Roi Edward VII. Ils
taient dirigs par le Capitaine Hew Dalrymple Ross, prodige de lartillerie. Celui-ci garda la tte du
rgiment pendant 18 ans ! Il fut la dernire personne avoir le grade de Lieutenant-General of
Ordonance, avant de devenir Master Gunner de lartillerie royale.
