Dear

I am pleased to present my resume to you for a position as a K-3 School Counselor in the Lyndhurst Public
Schools. I strongly believe that you will find me to be a dedicated counselor who is well qualified to bring new
ideas into the Counseling Department of Lyndhurst, and provide our Lyndhurst students with support and
motivation as they continue to reach towards their goals. I am a proud Alumni of the Lyndhurst School District, and
have gained extensive amounts of knowledge in the area of School Counseling and would love to bring my
creativity and excitement to the students of my hometown. As you will note in the attached resume, as of May
2015 I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, and recently completed my Masters Program in School
Counseling (December 2017). I am now a proud NJ certified School Counselor.

I have had much experience working with children of all ages and needs. I have filled in for a Maternity
Leave in the Lyndhurst District for grades K-2. I worked with children in the group setting for Social Skills Groups,
Lunch Bunch, and a Girls Self-Esteem group. I fulfilled 400 hours of Internship work in the Lyndhurst School District
at Jefferson School alongside Jennifer Claydon. At Jefferson School I met with students on a daily basis, created the
Hometown Heros Club, pushed into classrooms to do create inclusive lessons, and worked as a team with the
Jefferson School Community and all involved. Most recently, I completed 300 hours of Internship work in the
Union Township School District. I was placed at both Burnet Middle School and Union High School working
alongside Heather Regenye and Jill Hall. I was a part of the End of Day Program at UHS which is for behavioral
students and fifth year seniors who are trying to regain credit. At Burnet, I met with students daily, had my own
case load of students to check in on and contributed to the Remembrance Group.

One of my greatest strengths as a School Counselor is my ability to advocate for the students and work as
a team player with my colleagues. Each day, when my students walk into the school building, I want the young
learners to feel that they are safe and can come to the school counselor for advice, inspiration, and motivation.

I would be honored to secure a position as a School Counselor in the Lyndhurst School District, and would
welcome an interview to discuss how my experiences in the field of counseling would allow the students of
Lyndhurst to grow, and most of all achieve true success stories. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest
convenience.

Sincerely,

Laura Tunnell
