Holocaust Research Guide Reflection

During this project, we have developed a website so a group of tenth graders can do

research on the holocaust in their class. Through this project I have learned a multitude of things

about the holocaust. My specific part of the project was learning about different resisters and

groups of resisters during the holocaust time. I had to do research on a couple specific people and

throughout this process I learned how truly brutal it was for the people during this time period. I

also learned more specifically about The white Rose which was a non-violent resistance group

and Dietrich Bonhoeffer during my research.

When we finished all of our research we began to put all of our information onto a

website using a multi modal design. We used different modes such as linguistic, visual, and

spatial mode. When building our website, we had to keep in mind who our audience is. Since we

are making a website for tenth graders we made sure the material was understandable and

inviting so they will continue to use our website.

For this project, we were assigned different groups to put together each page. My group

decided the best way to get all the research done for our page was to split up different people and

groups of resisters to research, then we would come and put all our information on the website

together. Throughout this process I was able to build my reading and research skills in many

areas. I was able to sharpen my research and inquiry skills by sorting through the multitude of

website sources that I could have used for this project. Through this I learned more about how to

use critical reading of research materials to find a credible source, and how to find the best

information to use from a credible source. I was also able to grow my skills in feedback by going

through my groups page and also other groups page to give reputable feedback that would be

helpful in continuing to build this website.

Through this project I have become more aware and informed on the time period of the

Holocaust. By creating a digital resource for a tenth-grade class I honed by rhetorical awareness

by having to become more educated on the topic I was presenting. I had to do a multitude of

research through credible sources about my specific group of resisters. As I went through this

process I learned more about myself as a writer and a group member. I learned that I am a very

organized writer, I like to organize all my information before I present it to the group Next, I

learned that I am a very proactive group member because of the organization I keep for all my

research. Through this project I have furthered my skills of being a proactive and organized

writer and group member, and I will use these skills as I continue with my academic career. I can

use the skill such as organization as classes get harder, and I can also use the skills I have learned

from being a group member to utilize when I have to work as part of a team on an organization.
