This book was informative on an individual citizens perspective on the revolution. I used
this book to gain many first person views and outlooks on the landscape of the government at
that time.

Stokesbury, James L. A short history of the American Revolution. Perennial, 2003.

This book gave a great general overview of the American revolutionary war. This was
helpful in finding the various key events in the revolutionary war.

Latimer, Jon. 1812: war with America. Belknap Press of Harvard Univ. Press, 2009.

This book gave information on the American revolution from the British point of view. I
used this resource as a reference for how the opposition viewed the situation and the pirates
helping the American Navy.

Rediker, Marcus. Outlaws of the Atlantic: sailors, pirates, and motley crews in the age of sail.
Verso, 2014.

This book provided a detailed description of the privateers that aided the U.S. navy in the
American revolutionary war against the British. I used this information to become aware of
the many important events that occurred before, during and after the revolution that
involved privateers.
