Frov Fiedler, Peter Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2017 2:36 PM Subject: BU-WBUR Organizational and Culture Climate Assessment Importance: High Dear WBUR Colleagues, 11am sure you are all aware that WBUR and Boston University have received allegations about the behavior of On Point host, Tom Ashbrook, The allegations include descriptions of unprofessional behavior as well as actions that may fall under the University’s policies prohibiting sexual harassment, Boston University takes such matters very seriously. After receiving written notification of the allegations, the University promptly formulated a two-pronged strategy to examine these allegations: ‘* Sexual Harassment - Because the allegations characterize certain aspects of Tom Ashbrook’s actions as sexual harassment, we have engaged the law firm of Holland & Knight to conduct a targeted investigation. The purpose of the investigation is to determine whether there has been any behavior that violates the University’s Sexual Misconduct/Title IX policy. ‘© Work Environment - The University has retained Longpoint Consulting, an external higher education management consulting firm, to conduct an assessment of the culture and climate of On Point, its staff, and the WBUR senior management team directly responsible for the program. Longpoint’s focus will be to explore those allegations that involve disrespectful behavior and concerns about the culture and climate in and around the On Point program. Beginning early next week, each of you will be contacted by my assistant, Ruth Martinho, to schedule interviews with Longpoint in which you will be asked to share your perspectives regarding On Point’s organizational culture, communication and climate. Those individuals who have brought forth allegations of sexual harassment will also be asked to speak to attorneys from Holland & Knight about these allegations. | encourage each of you to provide candid and direct feedback during this process. Retaliation is prohibited by the University’s Sexual Misconduct/Title IX policy and any such concerns should be immediately brought to the attention of the investigators. | also wish to assure you that the University is unwaveringly committed to addressing the concerns that have been raised and to providing a safe, respectful work environment for all employees. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation. Sincerely, Peter Fiedler Peter Fiedler Vice President for Administrative Service Boston University
