"To hear about Ka from Vedic literatures,

or to hear from Him directly through the
Bhagavad-gt, is itself righteous activity.
And for one who hears about Ka, Lord
Ka, who is dwelling in everyone's heart,
acts as a best-wishing friend and purifies
the devotee who constantly engages in
hearing of Him. In this way, a devotee
naturally develops his dormant
transcendental knowledge. As he hears more
about Ka from the Bhgavatam and from the
devotees, he becomes fixed in the devotional
service of the Lord. By development of
devotional service one becomes freed from
the modes of passion and ignorance, and thus
material lusts and avarice are diminished.
When these impurities are wiped away, the
candidate remains steady in his position of
pure goodness, becomes enlivened by
devotional service and understands the
science of God perfectly. Thus bhakti-yoga
severs the hard knot of material affection
and enables one to come at once to the stage
of asaaya-samagram, understanding of the
Supreme Absolute Truth Personality of
Godhead." (SB 1.2.17-21)
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
In the Moka Dharma, there is a statement
made about Nryaa:

yo vai sdhana sampatti pururtha
catuhaye
tay vin tad pnoti naro nryaraya
Even without performing actions for
attaining the four pururthas (artha,
dharma, kma and moka), the person who
surrenders to Nryaa attains the goal.
CCP:-

V 1-12 know krishna in full

V 13-25 surrednder to krishna
V 26-30 how does soul gets liberated by
knowledge of krishna.
Alternating process of liberation
This one of the verse on which prabhupad
gave maximum classes.
Direct call for hearing .
Hearing tells us the path and hearing is the
path also.
Goal indicated in last chapter thinking of
the lord in ones heart .
By hearing one wil know krishna properly.
By hearing / knowledge our doubts are
removed, purified.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
We cannot know absolute truth in full but we
know according to our capacity.
We dont want to know about the krishna for
entertainment but for attachment to krishna.
Getting the mind attracted to krishna is the
goal of life.
1.2.17-21 most quoted section by prabhupad
from the bhagavatam, tells how by hearing
mayya sakta manah will happen.
By hearing one get purified by hearing also
submissive hearing activates the krishna in
the heart.
We dont have steady bhakti because the
modes are interfering,by hearing we will be
placed in goodness.
Resentful devotional service doesnt lead to
advancement but the joyful devotional
service leads to advancement.
Then scintific knowledge in heart awakens,
then we will be free of material
contamination.
Then attachment in the heart will be cut and
all the doubts are destroyed, all fruitive
activities stops ,one become attached to
krishna.

VERSE 7.2:-
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Complete knowledge includes knowledge of the
phenomenal world, the spirit behind it, and
the source of both of them.
When the cause of all causes becomes known,
then everything knowable becomes known, and
nothing remains unknown. The Vedas (Muaka
Upaniad 1.1.3) say, kasmin nu bhagavo
vijte sarvam ida vijta bhavatti.

Chapter 1-6 how from karma one can rise to

bhakti
7-12 bhakti
13-18 how from the jnana one can rise to
bhakti
Meaning of jnana and vijnana is not the same
everywhere in bg.
Phenomena- things as they appear to us ,as
per our senses.
Nomina things as they are independent of
our sense perception.
Things are deeper than they appear to us.
Empericism direct perception by senses. Ex
newton seeeing faling of fruit
Rationalism- knowledge aquired by reasoning.
Ex newton finding out the reason.
VCT jnana aishwarya of the lord / power
of the lord.
Vijnana sweetnes of lord.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Nothing remains to be known but the
krishnas glories cannot be known in full,
here lord is talking in principle, not the
details.
You will understand the principles in full
,but the deails are unlimited.
BG graduate knowledge gita talks about
the gods identity- we can understand who is
god
SB talks about the gods activity.
CC- talks about the gods mentality, what he
likes and dislike, his way of thinking.
Madhurya jnana is not necessary the madhurya
rasa jnana.
Madhurya jnana here is sweetness of krishna.
MSC matter ,spirit and controller is
tattva traya.-jiva /jagat/jagadish.
Knowledge that directs our consciousness
towards the transcendence is trascendental
knowledge.
VERSE 7.3:-
CCP:-

Rarity of knowledge about him is highighted

by krishna.
Most of the people are caught up in eating
,sleeping,defending and mating.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
One can pray for comptible spouse but shuold
not get caught up in it.
Dharma patni means patni for dharma not for
the enjoyment.
Romentisation of reinarnation is trivial,
focus on soul not on the mate.
Ultimate soulmate is the krishna.
By underscoring rarity of knowledge krishna
wants to drag the attention of arjuna.
Wrong understanding karma for hard working
people astang yoga for austere people
bhakti for sentimental jnana for
intellectuals.
Bhakti is not just sentimental but guided
,pure sentiments.
SP if bhakti is easy then why not everyone
following ,bhakti according to scriptures is
not easy.
Real knowledge comes by revelation not by
reconstruction.reflection,introspection so
it is very rare.
VERSE 7.4:-

Material nature is called prakti, or the

energy of the Lord in His different purua
incarnations (expansions) as described in
the Narada-pancaratra, one of the Stvata-
tantras:

"For material creation, Lord Ka's plenary

expansion assumes three Vius. The first
one, Mah-viu, creates the total material
energy, known as the mahat-tattva. The
second, Garbhodakay Viu, enters into
all the universes to create diversities in
each of them. The third, Krodakay
Viu, is diffused as the all-pervading
Supersoul in all the universes and is known
as Paramtm. He is present even within the
atoms. Anyone who knows these three Vius
can be liberated from material
entanglement."
The ingredients of the material
manifestation are separated energies of the
Lord.
The Paramtm manifestation is also a
temporary all-pervasive aspect of the
Krodakay Viu. The Paramtm
manifestation is not eternal in the
spiritual world.
VCT -knowledge in relation to bhakti also
means knowledge of the Lords powers, not
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
knowledge of the tm being separate from
the body (which is knowledge in relation to
the process of jna).
VCT- By the listing of the five gross
elements beginning with earth, the subtle
elements, known as the sense objects smell,
taste, form, touch and sound, are understood
to be included as well. By the word false
ego, the ten senses which arise from it, and
the mahat-tattva, its cause, are also
understood to be included. Mind and
intellect are listed separately to show
their greater importance among all the
elements.
CCP:-

Separeted energy sp- cow and cows milk

He and his voice,
Separated may come from source but may have

Material world is temporary manifestation of
one of the energy of the lord.
Material science deals only with five gross
elements.
Material science focuses mainly on gross
matter so their understanding is incomplete.
LINK :- krishna will talk about the spiritual
energy .
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE

VERSE 7.5:-

Both forms of material nature, namely gross

(earth, etc.) and subtle (mind, etc.), are
products of the inferior energy.
The cosmic manifestation has no power to act
unless it is moved by the superior energy,
the living entity.
The distinction between the living entities
and the Lord is described in rmad-
Bhgavatam (10.87.30) as follows:
aparimit dhruvs tanu-bhto yadi sarva-gats
tarhi na syateti niyamo dhruva netarath
ajani ca yan-maya tad avimucya niyant bhavet
samam anujnat yad amata mata-duatay

"O Supreme Eternal! If the embodied living

entities were eternal and all-pervading like
You, then they would not be under Your
control. But if the living entities are
accepted as minute energies of Your
Lordship, then they are at once subject to
Your supreme control. Therefore real
liberation entails surrender by the living
entities to Your control, and that surrender
will make them happy. In that constitutional
position only can they be controllers.
Therefore, men with limited knowledge who
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
advocate the monistic theory that God and
the living entities are equal in all
respects are actually guided by a faulty and
polluted opinion."
VCT-Why is the jva considered superior? The
unconscious matter (idam jagat) is employed
(dhryate) by this conscious jva, for
jvas own enjoyment.
pradhna-ketraja-patir guea
The Lord is the master of the knower of the

the guas. vetvatara Upaniad 6.16

Garbhodaksayi = supersoul of universe
Mahavishnu supersoul of mahat tattva.
VERSE 7.7.:-
CCP:-

Transcendent aspect- not limited to matter

Emanant aspect- pervades all of creation.
Krishna is saying nothing is higher than me;
we need to accept it as it is should not be
misinterpreted.
Svetasvetara Upanishad confirms absolute
truth being the person.
This part confirms that Krishna is cause of
both material and spiritual energy, he
pervades everything, nothing is greater than
him, he is the highest reality.
VERSE 7.8:-

This verse explains how the Lord is all-

pervasive by His diverse material and
spiritual energies.
Because the impersonalists are very much
afraid of addressing the Supreme Lord Ka
by His innumerable names, they prefer to
vibrate the transcendental sound okra. But
they do not realize that okra is the sound
representation of Ka.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
CCP:-

Krishna identifying himself with five things

but it doesnt mean he is advocating the
pantheism.
Krishna allows existing everything as the
functional complete whole.
Krishna is the taste of the water means
taste is the sense object associated with
the element water. The element allows
feeling sense object. Water allows feeling
the taste.
Elemental theory of matter- matter is made
of certain elements, which have certain
characteristics.
Today they use atomic theory of matter; this
theory is also given in Vedic system
vaisesika.
Science is like the map which gives
information of the territory but it is not
the territory, it is one way of seeing the
reality, it is not wrong but not complete.
Taste is accessible to us through water.
Everything needs some amount of water to
make taste accessible to us.
This section helps us to remember Krishna in
everything.
Krishna is the taste of water water makes
the taste of all objects accessible to us
(saliva), water gives taste to all objects.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Essence of sun and moon is the light,
without which we will not call them
sun/moon, science may give the mechanism of
sunshine, but it doesnt tell who is
overseeing it.
Etymology- study of verb root.
Amen has root as om same for Omni.
Vedas ultimately talk about transcendence
and that is the Krishna.
We can chant omkar but holyname calls lord
in more personal way, and it is the
yugadharma.
Om is very formal non personal address, it
is non descript form of absolute truth.
Ability I the man extraordinary quality
like speaking etc is Krishna.
Human beings have the capacity to go beyond
the bodily urges and rise higher this
ability is Krishna mainly.
Controversy is about which feature is
highest, impersonal/personal.
Jurisdiction of Krishna consciousness
spreads everywhere means we can perceive
Krishna in everything.
VERSE 7.9:-
CCP:-

Associated sense object of the earth is

fragrance.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Fragrance of flower comes from the earth.
Western intellects dont know how the soul
acts on the matter, but Vedic view is that
through supersoul.
Capacity for austerity comes from Krishna;
we should see in that way and not become
envious.
Krishna consciousness is active in every
sphere.
LINK: - some more attributes.
VERSE 7.10:-

In all cases, however, the seed of their

life is Ka. As stated in the Vedic
literature (Taittirya Upaniad 3.1.1), yato

Supreme Absolute Truth, is that from which
everything is emanating."

CCP:-

Krishna has talked about total of ten

attributes.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Normally seed gives rise to one type of
thing and after producing something it loses
its existence, but Krishna gives rise to
variety and doesnt loses his existence in
any way.
LINK: - two more attributes.
VERSE 7.11:-

Ksatriya should act out of duty.
It is not that Kama should be given up.
Kama is one of the purushartha.
Sanyasi to be asked how your conquest over
rebirth is going on.
To the king are you having the balance
between religion, profit and pleasure.
Kama is not just the sensual satisfaction
but the overall happiness of family life.
Here Krishna encouraging the Arjuna to see
Krishna in all aspect of life.
Sex is not considered the taboo but it is
the part of life but it should not be made
the constant object of meditation.
LINK: - conclusion of the section.
VERSE 7.12:-
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
All the modes of material naturegoodness,
passion and ignoranceare emanations from
the Supreme Lord, Ka, but Ka is not
subject to material nature.
He is nirgua, which means that these guas,
or modes, although issuing from Him, do not
affect Him.
CCP:-

After giving 14 example Krishna is giving

the general principle, all these are in any
one of the mode but ultimately everything is
coming from me.
Krishna is never contended in material
nature he is beyond the nature.
LINK: - how he is transcendental and what does
transcendence implies.
VERSE 7.13:-

Every living entity under the influence of

material nature has a particular type of
body and a particular type of psychological
and biological activities accordingly.
CCP:-

(13-25)This section tells how knowledge

about Krishna leads to surrender and types
of people who surrender and dont surrender.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Bewildered by modes people dont know that
Krishna is transcendental to these modes,
and imperishable, beyond the limit if time
and space.
How mode cause forgetfulness of Krishna-
modes change our perception, and as per that
we see the world.
Contamination of three modes prevents us
from seeing the reality.
Everyone in this world, is in the illusion
as long as we dont understand Krishna
properly, modes also causes the illusion
about the Krishna.
VERSE 7.14:-

Inferior, material nature is defined herein

as divine nature due to its divine
connection and movement by the divine will.
my tu prakti vidyn myina tu
mahevaram. "Although my [illusion] is
false or temporary, the background of my
is the supreme magician, the Personality of
Godhead, who is Mahevara, the supreme
controller." (vetvatara Upaniad 4.10)
Another meaning of gua is rope.
Surrender unto the lotus feet of the Lord is
the only means to get free from the clutches
of the stringent material nature.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
The Vedas (vetvatara Upaniad 3.8)
confirm this in the phrase tam eva viditv,
or "Freedom is possible only by
understanding Ka."
Lord iva says, mukti-pradt sarve
viur eva na saaya: "There is no doubt
that Viu is the deliverer of liberation
for everyone."
tam eva viditv atimrum eti: only by
knowing Him, one surpasses death.
(etsvatra Upaniad 3.8)

All good fortune to you! Now please choose a

benediction from usanything but liberation,
since only the infallible Supreme Lord,

iva says to Ghakara:
mukti-pradt sarve viur eva na
saaya
Without doubt, Viu alone gives liberation
to all. Padma Pura 6.253.176
CCP:-

13- Three models are covering the living

entity so they cannot understand Krishna.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
modes are covering the vision of jivas not
that he is covered
14-here Krishna is telling that this
covering is not independent of him, but
under him.
How Maya is divine? Maya doesnt cause
wrong bit it just the facilitator,
responsibility lays on the jiva for choice;
it is our choice to be in the Maya or to
move out of Maya. Purpose of Maya is divine
so it is divine, also divine due to
connection with the supreme divine.
Analogy Krishna is like parent and Maya
is like strict tutor.
Maya is strong because our purpose to serve
Krishna is not strong.
Strong purpose helps people to avoid the
temptation.
Its like strong student not getting
distracted.
Maya is like strong dog under the full
control of master, we asking the Maya stops
may not be useful but praying, and turning
to Krishna we become free from Maya.
Temptation are the promises of pleasure.
Tribulation- test of pain.
1st part of verse- Maya is daivi and
duratyaya
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
2nd part of the verse- what is stronger than
Maya, Krishna.
Surrender is accepting that is favorable and
rejecting that which is not favorable, its
all about choices choosing that leads to
Krishna and avoiding that takes one away
from the Krishna.
Basic principle of spiritual life is
harmonizing our will with the Krishnas
will.
We should always see what is favorable and
what is not favorable.
Surrender is doing our sadhana properly,
doing services properly, and rejecting
temptations.
LINK: - if surrender to Krishna leads to
liberation then why doesnt everyone surrender
to Krishna.
VERSE 7.15:-

Foolish fruitive workers are like beast of

burden, ass, dont know for whom they are
working.
The civilized human beings are those who
have regulative principles of social,
political and religious life.
Those who are socially and politically
developed but who have no religious
principles must be considered nardhamas.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
To pray to God when he is in difficulty is a
natural instinct in every living being
because he is eternally related with God.
Demonic principles. This class is openly
atheistic.
myaypahta-jn- are materially
intelligent but dont surrender to the lord.
(1) Grossly foolish persons, (2) the lowest
of mankind, (3) the deluded speculators, and
(4) the professed atheists, never surrender
unto the lotus feet of the Personality of
Godhead in spite of all scriptural and
authoritative advice.
Dua means evil or spoiled, and ktinah
means clever.
evil intelligence (dusktina)
One is the mha, the fool equal to an
animal. He pursues only (animalistic)
enjoyment through his work.
BV-The four types enumerated here are:
those who think God has a material body,
such as those following the path of karma;
those who do not believe in God at all and
just engage in material pursuits; those who
think God is prakti, such as the skhya
philosophers; and those who think that God
is impersonal, such as the advaitins. This
last sentence gives the answer to question
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
asked at the beginning of the commentary for
this verse.
CCP:-

If by surrendering to Krishna one can be

liberated then why everyone does doesnt
surrender to Krishna.
Prabhupad give different explanation of
these four categories

Different than the previous acaryas, because

knowledge is not just textual but
contextual, avidya constantly keep getting
updated, but the Acharyas by their
commentaries keep countering current version
of Maya at that time, Prabhupad gave
commentary based on what is best for current
population.
Duskriti- meritorious but notorious.
Scriptural examples are given from
particular perspective, hogs eating his
natural food are not condemned but this
example is given to show how the person may
lack the discrimination.
Humans which are compared with the ass is
given to show that people are working
unnecessarily hard which is not required, by
this they are depriving themselves of the
higher goal of their life.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
In the spectrum of humans highest are those
who have love for the Krishna and lowest are
those who have no connection with the
Krishna.
Mature surrender means we have the option to
not to surrender but still we surrender.
Mudha are those who are so busy in their
sense pleasure that they dont have time to
surrender.
Nardhamas- their spiritual inclination is
very denigrated/ low.
Mayaya apahrita jnana they are intelligent
but their intelligence is stolen by Maya.
Material knowledge is like studying the
walls and windows of the prison no use one
should try to know how I can come out of the
prison.
Mayaya apahrita jnana may have conclusion
opposing to the lord but they are not
against the existence of the lord.
Asurim bhavam asrita- they are out rightly
against the lord deny the the existence of
the lord.
LINK: - those who surrender.
VERSE 7.16:-

when the distressed, the inquisitive, the

seekers of knowledge, and those who are in
need of money are free from all material
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
desires, and when they fully understand that
material remuneration has nothing to do with
spiritual improvement, they become pure
devotees.
The result of jna-mira-bhakti, which is
superior to the other three types, is nta
rati (bhva), as in the case of Sanaka and
others. Sometimes, because of exceptional
mercy of the Lord and His devotee, the
result of jna-mira-bhakti is the supreme
position of prema, as in the case of
ukadeva.
If sakma-bhakti (the first three types)
becomes nikma, without desires, the result
is jna-mira-bhakti, and the result of
that jna-mira-bhakti is as stated above
(nta-rati). Sometimes, those who have
jna-mira-bhakti or karma-mira-bhakti
attain prema in dsya and higher rasas on
their own (with no apparent association of
devotees in this life), because of influence
of association with devotees in previous
lives. However, that prema is predominated
by a mood of reverence (aivarya).
CCP:-

Krishna here telling four kinds of people

those worship the lord not surrender,
eventually they will come to devotional
service.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Arta- gajendra jijnasu- saunakadi risis
artharthi- dhruva maharaj jnana- kumaras.
People in different modes take shelter of
different things during difficulties,
In ignorance they take to intoxication, in
passion they take to the money and sex, in
goodness they take shelter of knowledge
trying to rationalize, in transcendence they
take to devotional service.
One may take to devotional service by many
reasons but what will raise them to the pure
devotional service is their association with
the pure devotees.
Kanisth- madhyama, by appreciation of the
pure devotees.
VERSE 7.17:-

By searching after knowledge one realizes

that his self is different from his material
body, and when further advanced he comes to
the knowledge of impersonal Brahman and
Paramtm. When one is fully purified, he
realizes that his constitutional position is
to be the eternal servant of God.
CCP:-

Others who are coming for the fulfillment of

desires are not best but jnana who is
searching after the lord.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Krishna is not referring to the impersonal
jnana, jnana knowing the futility of the
material world search completely for the
lord.
Not the impersonal jnana but the person who
have transcended the material temptation and
material allurement or trouble.
LINK; - actually all of them are dear to him .
VERSE 7.18:-
CCP:-

Lord is so hungry for the devotion that he

considers anyone going to him to be very
magnanimous.
Jnana is my soul is not that he merges with
the lord but it shows his deep affection for
these devotees.
Jnanis are as dear as me but devotees are
more dear than myself.
VERSE 7.19:-

In the beginning of spiritual realization,

while one is trying to give up one's
attachment to materialism, there is some
leaning towards impersonalism, but when one
is further advanced he can understand that
there are activities in the spiritual life
and that these activities constitute
devotional service.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
BV-Vsudeva is everything in the sense that
everything is dependent upon Him. By His
powers he pervades everything. One should
not interpret the statement to mean that
only Brahman is real, and everything else is
false.
CCP:-

7.16-7.19 those who serve the Krishna and

then finally surrender.
They understand that Vsudeva is the
ultimate reality.
Bhajante to prapadyate is very long activity
can take many life times, depending on the
intensity of practice.
The conception that Vsudeva is everything
makes them surrender to him.
Vsudeva is everything is not pantheism, but
understanding that Vsudeva is accessible in
everything, not that everything is Vsudeva.
Object is worship able due to its connection
to the absolute, it not the absolute.
Prahlad maharaj saw lord in everything but
he doesnt worship the pillar.
Krishna is referring to the people who start
approaching him, and then complete surrender
will take time.
Universal vision of vasudeva is universal
form.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
LINK; - now Krishna will talk about those who
dont reject him but do not surrender to him.
VERSE 7.20:-

Those who are freed from all material

contaminations surrender unto the Supreme
Lord and engage in His devotional service.
As long as the material contamination is not
completely washed off, they are by nature
nondevotees.
CCP:-

All gods are not one as Krishna is clearly

distinguishing that mam prapadyate and Anya
devata, he and other demigods are different.
Different puranas guide people to different
worship.
Persons with lower modes may not take up
higher devotional service but they they can
engage in some worship as per their modes
they are not expelled out of the house of
the Vedas.
Normally the bhakti is not easily available
but there is facility for gradual elevation
that is the system of demigod worship.
VERSE 7.21:-

CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
He is the Lord who, different from the sun
god, is situated within the sun god, whom
the sun god does not know, and who is the
body of the sun god. Bhad rayaka Upaniad
3.7.9
CCP:-

Krishna is not under insecurity if someone

worships other demigods.
With progress in the path of bhakti we
realize how large hearted the Krishna is, he
is not concerned with his glorification,
name, fame.
We can know the broad mindedness of the
Krishna.
Krishna operates in this connection by
paramatma connection.
To illuminate the purport Prabhupad gives
inner meaning, as here there is no reference
to the supersoul but he is telling this to
make clarity.
LINK; - how the demigods are also empowered by
the Krishna.
VERSE 7.22:-

The living entity may forget that everything

is the property of the Supreme Lord, but the
demigods do not forget.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Asking for material benefit, however, is not
a sign of a pure devotee.
CCP:-

Krishna is here telling that it is I who

give the result.
Devatas do not have the independent power to
give the result.
One who want to go back to godhead the
material desires are the impediments.
VERSE 7.23:-

It is not that everyone, regardless of

whatever demigod is worshiped, will reach
the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
BV -if the devata are temporary, how can
their devotees become permanent, and how can
the results of worship be permanent.
Those who worship the devata with the
understanding that the devata is my body
(not being of scant intelligence) obtain
infinite, eternal results.
CCP:-

Demigods, their abodes, their worshipper,

result by worshiping them are all temporary.
Today people dont do demigod worship by
rules and regulation so they may even not go
the demigod planet.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
People think religious practice is one form
of the entertainment, so they play movie
song in front of demigod, but it will not
give the results.
Even worship of the lord with material
motives takes a long time to come to pure
devotion, so worshipping the demigod and
coming to the worship is very gradual
process.
Krishna is clear that those who worship
demigod go to the demigod planet not to him.
Seeking something temporary is selling
oneself short.
LINK: - those who worship impersonal aspect of
the lord.

activities, and one can thus understand that
You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
But those who are in the modes of passion
and ignorance, the demons, the nondevotees,
cannot understand You. They are unable to
understand You. However expert such
nondevotees may be in discussing Vednta and
the Upaniads and other Vedic literatures,
it is not possible for them to understand
the Personality of Godhead." (Stotra-ratna
12)
The fact is that no one can understand Ka
without rendering devotional service and
without developing Ka consciousness. The
Bhgavatam (10.14.29) confirms this:
athpi te deva padmbuja-dvaya-
prasda-lenughta eva hi
jnti tattva bhagavan-mahimno
na cnya eko 'pi cira vicinvan

"My Lord, if one is favored by even a slight

trace of the mercy of your lotus feet, he
can understand the greatness of your
personality. But those who speculate to
understand the Supreme Personality of
Godhead are unable to know you, even though
they continue to study the Vedas for many
years."
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
One must understand Him by devotional
service.
Clearly, neither the demigods nor Ka, the
Supreme Personality of Godhead, are
impersonal.
CCP:-

Krishna here is referring to the Mayavadi.

Brahmavadis are not offensive they either
dont know about the personal form or
attracted to the impersonal form.
Mayavadi think personal form is
transitional.
Mayavadi think impersonal reality is
ultimate and has come temporarily in the
personal form.
Offensive Mayavadi- they think only Brahman
is the reality, when Brahman comes in
contact with goodness that is
jagadish/bhagavan, with passion jiva, with
ignorance matter.
They make bhagavan material, but Krishna is
repeatedly talking that he is not material.
They make the indispensible ultimate truth
as dispensable temporary truth, thinking
that only those who are unintelligent should
worship the personal form.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
This understanding is very dangerous as it
makes us think that giving up love for
Krishna is spiritual advancement.
Impersonals lead to increase in the
materialism as there is no pleasure in the
Mayavadi meditation.
They think impersonal merging is higher than
the madhurya rasa.
They reverse the hierarchy making brahmanand
highest which is lowest.
Why one should surrender to Krishna- those
who dont surrender those who surrender-
two types who dont surrender to Krishna
demigod worshipper, Mayavadi.
LINK: - how by surrendering to Krishna one goes
beyond Maya.
VERSE 7.25:-
CCP:-

Krishna has already told that there is no

higher reality than him (mattah para taram
nanyat) so how can the Brahman be higher
than him.
Krishna here is saying aham not something
beyond him is highest.
Krishna has the right to reveal or conceal
himself from the people.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
We are not the order giver to the god but
the order carrier of the god.
Even in this world powerful people has the
right to meet someone or not why supreme
lord should not have this right.
If attitude is of defiance not of dependence
then we cannot access to Krishna.
Attitude of defying the Krishna will keep us
in this material world.
Krishna allows us to play the god, in this
material world.
Krishna has the right to manifest or not
manifest he is not obliged to come before
us.
When we turn to Krishna with attitude of
devotion then he manifests himself.
People try to impose themselves on the god.
Krishna is here saying that he is infinite
and beyond time.
Not the attitude of defiance but that of the
compliance.
Mahamaya allows the people to enjoy
independently thinking in terms of the body.
Yogamaya brings the illusion which increases
the devotion.
Krishna is not just seen with the eyes but
with the heart.
Krishna doesnt like those who defy his
position to save them from the offence.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
VERSE 7.26:-

Here the question of personality and

impersonality is clearly stated. If Ka,
the form of the Supreme Personality of
Godhead, were my, material, as the
impersonalists consider Him to be, then like
the living entity He would change His body
and forget everything about His past life.
Anyone with a material body cannot remember
his past life, nor can he foretell his
future life, nor can he predict the outcome
of his present life; therefore he cannot
know what is happening in past, present and
future. Unless one is liberated from
material contamination, he cannot know past,
present and future.
CCP:-

Krishna is assuring Arjuna dont worry what

will happen to your relatives.
How Krishna can know the future? - does it
mean that our future is programmed?
Krishnas knowledge of future is like our
knowledge of past, we know it but dont have
control over it.
Krishna while performing pastime doesnt act
as omniscient.
He enhances the pastime by creating the
situation of uncertainity, unpredictability.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Krishna can know the future, can change the
future but he doesnt do that he gives the
freedom, by which he allows us to be tested
,purified, better to develop our
relationship with Krishna, than worry about
these things.

VERSE 7.27:-

The illusory energy is manifested in the

duality of desire and hate.
CCP:-

Sammoha
Iccha- desire to enjoy separate from Krishna
dvesa- resentment for the Krishnas supreme
position.
Yasmat priya priya we feel happy is
separation from that we dont like, and
unhappy when there is separation from what
we like.
It like watching movie then liking and
disliking, but watching the movie itself is
the illusion.
How we fell down from the spiritual world is
vexed question as it is beyond the time and
space, and it is very difficult to explain
in time and space dimension.
CHAPTER 7 KNOWLEDGE OF THE ABSOLUTE
Story of Adam and eve explain that going
against the will of lord is the cause of our
fall down.
Arena to freely exercise the free will is
the spiritual world.
For sustained relationship one has to become
emotionally sharp.
If we go back to spiritual world what is the
guaranty that we will not fall back-
answered by BV in govind bhasya- anavritti
sabdat- once the living entity returns to
btg he doesnt come back. This is the
scriptural promise.
VERSE 7.28:-

forgetting their constitutional position as

greatest violation of God's law.
