Pearl Harbor Essay

Pearl Harbor was a major battle between the U.S.A and the Japanese

people. This attack happened on Dec. 7th. Of 1941. As part of the oil

embargo, the United States would not allow japan to purchase oil from the U.S.

However, The people of the United States were not expecting such an

event that day. While acting on the oil embargo, the people of the united

states were gaining more and more territory, such as guam; Meanwhile, the

people of japan were unaware of the militant actions taking place just a

few hundred miles away near Hawaii. The military leader, hideki tojo, was

launching an attack with Japanese zeroes, also called migs, on the American

owned Pearl Harbor.

This harbor, Pearl Harbor, was attacked in the morning time,

completely unsuspecting to what was going to happen. The Japanese

launched their zeroes, obviously much more equipped and able than our
own, and they streamed towards the harbor. When the planes took sight of

our nations largest shipyard, they opened fire and sunk or damaged a

number of ships during the long and grueling raid. The Americans could

only open fire for so long before we realized that the Japanese had won

this fight. Soon after, the Americans declared war on japan, leading to the

first atomic bomb.

This attack came on December 7th, of 1941. The Japanese had

planned the attack for a time before however, At around nine oclock in

the morning, the first zero came into view, and soon after, a swarm. The

next day, The United States declared war and set forth to develop the first

atomic bomb, essentially wiping out major populations of Japanese citizens

once dropped. After war was declared, the people of the united states

became very angry at the Japanese, even hysterical to a degree. The

Japanese did not relent, they refused to surrender until a certain, major

event would turn the countenance of their country from hopeful, to

saddened.

Both countries seemed to have fair relations with each other until the

US enacted the oil embargo. After this, the Japanese grew hatred for the
united states and its people. Soon after, the Japanese began looking for

ways to gain more resources such as; oil, food, textiles, and so forth. The

need for power continued to grow as the people of japan began to realize

that they held the strength to take what they needed instead of wait or

ask for those goods. This power soon proved as a catalyst for disaster when

Hideki Tojo, the military leader of japan, called for an attack on Pearl

Harbor.

The need for resources threw Japan into a violent rampage, taking

and stealing what they could, after this became a worldwide threat, the US

stepped in. Japan did not respond in a kind way to this, they knew the

military of japan needed to destroy any opposition in order to succeed,

that being said, America was in the way essentially. Soon after realizing this,

The Japanese people began to contemplate what exactly they could do to

crush this threat. Japan sought to control the pacific ocean because of this

mentality. The United States were caught off guard on December 7th, of

1941. A heavy toll was taken that day and our naval power weakened

considerably, however, the United States turned out to have much more

than just naval strength when the Air Force stepped up to the plate.
