1. General
This user manual describes details of testing 7SJ6x relays with the corresponding OMICRON
Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.

The template has been tested with the following relay:

Firmware Version: V4.8

1.1 Supported Relays

The following relays can be tested with the Protection Test Template:
7SJ61x
7SJ62x
7SJ63x
7SJ64x

2. Software and Hardware Requirements

To use this template, you must have a valid license for the OMICRON Test Universe 2.40 software or
higher versions and the following test modules:
Control Center
Quick CMC
State Sequencer
Overcurrent
Ramping

Any CMC test set can be used with this Protection Test Template.

3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring a 7SJ6x relay to a CMC test set. The advised connections are
shown in
Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the Hardware Configuration of the PTT.

Although the functions listed above are not supported by the Protection Test Template, the
Relay Parameter Section of the XRIO Converter includes all protection parameters of the relay.

5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the Siemens 7SJ6x Motor XRIO Converter, which includes setting
parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the DIGSI
4.83 software.

The Standard Filter for XRIO files can be used for importing settings into the Relay Parameter Section.

6. Specific Protection Tests

6.1 Motor Starting

6.1.1 Stall at Start-up Trip Time (Warm Motor)

The Overcurrent test module is used for trip time tests of startup supervision function in warm motor state.
A pre-fault condition is simulated first, with current and time values calculated to put the rotor thermal
replica above the temperature limit for cold motor (DIGSI parameter 4106). In the fault state a three phase
overcurrent condition is simulated with magnitude equal the Max. Start Current (4102).

6.1.2 Locked Rotor Trip Time

The State Sequencer is used to test the trip time of the Motor Starting function in case where the
supervision of a signal form an external device is used for rotation detection. This signal (Rotor Locked) is
simulated using a CMC's binary output. Currents in the fault state are set above the min start recognition
threshold to arm the function.
