CHANGES IN STATES OF MATTER

Phase change- matter can change its state by changing its temperature
Temperature- describe how hot or cold an object is
Celsius- unit of temperature
Thermometer- is used to measure temperature
Water- is an example of matter that exists in 3 different states
______________________SOLID TO LIQUID_______________________
Melting is the process of changing from solid to liquid and the melting
point is the temperature of which a solid starts to melt.
______________________LIQUID TO SOLID_______________________
Snow- an example of water in solid state
Freezing is the process of changing from liquid to solid and freezing point
is the temperature of which a liquid to solid.
______________________GAS TO LIQUID________________________
Condensation- is the process of changing from gas to liquid.
Dew- is a form of a condensed water vapor
______________________LIQUID TO GAS________________________
Evaporation is the process of changing from liquid to gas, commonly
occurs in bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, oceans and seas.
______________________SOLID TO GAS_________________________
Sublimation-they undergo a change from solid to gas.
______________________GAS TO SOLID_________________________
Deposition- the opposite of sublimation, gaseous materials change into a
solid without through the liquid phase
Example: ice frost
