12. Szveg

I.

Getting stopped at customs is something that only happens to other people. But if it does
happen to you, you will find the situation easier to handle if you're confident about your rights
and those of the customs officers.
When you choose between the green Nothing To Declare and the red Something To Declare
channels you make a formal statement about what you're bringing into the country. There's no
excuse for not knowing what your legal limits are -posters and leaflets with details of this are
available on all ferries and in duty-free shops. So if you break the law you can be charged
duty or fined.

II.

Two rottweilers were shot dead last night after savaging an off-duty policeman. Police
Constable Peter Chessel was left in agony with a deep bite wound on his left thigh after the
"devil dog" attack on the Isle of Wight.
Two other policemen, who were radioed for help, ordered a farmer to shoot them.
Two were killed. But last night a third was still loose on the island, which is now full of
holidaymakers.
Police Constable Chessel, who was treated for his injuries in hospital, said later: "They were
going for my head. If I had not had my motorcycle crash helmet
on, I would have been more seriously hurt."
