Create A Sculpture Using An Empty Tempera Gallon

Step 1: Find your inspiration

Research and look up the different types of
batiks.
What will your inspiration be?
Will it be realistic, abstract, or non-objective?
Will an artist, culture, or period of time inspire
you? Will things in your life inspire you?

Step 2: Give your inspiration life

As you are researching/brainstorming create
thumbnail sketches of possible designs for your
sculpture. (the more the better)
Will your 3D sculpture hang from the ceiling or
will it stand on its own? (or will it need a base?)
Remember that thumbnail sketches are quick
interpretations of an idea.
Once an idea is picked, make a list of other
possible items you may need to gather to create
your sculpture.
Do you want materials to be left raw or will you
paint them?

Step 3: Construction of your sculpture

Please make sure that your sculpture is no taller
than 20 inches (storage space)
All major connections between materials will be
done with hot glue, any small connections
between the same materials will be done with
tacky glue.

Step 4: Finishing Project

 Please make sure that all the spider-web pieces
of hot glue are removed.

Step 5: Fill out Rubric and Answer Journal Prompts
