into the dangerous world of terrorism.

Fast & Furious 8 Review: Eight movies into 'Fast and Furious', one would think the testosterone-
fueled concept of speeding cars that defy the laws of physics would begin to start losing steam. But
Vin Diesel with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Jason Statham and crew manage to keep our eyes glued
to the screen just for the sheer spectacle of complete mayhem that ensues.

The franchise does try to do things a bit differently this time around. Since Dominic Toretto is
virtually untouchable behind the wheel, turning him against his 'family' and leaving his crew to fend
for themselves, considerably raises the stakes on a personal front. With the addition of versatile
actress Charlize Theron to the mix as a hacker extraordinaire, Diesel even gets to flex some of his
acting muscles. Though it's a shame that Theron doesn't trade blows with the boys, she's a heartless,
cold and calculating villain who proves to be more than a challenge. The rest of the proceedings are
standard alpha-male fare, though Jason Statham as Deckard and The Rock as Hobbs prefer to
exchange a barrage of verbal insults at each other, saving their fists for other unfortunate souls.
There’s a surprising cameo from a revered British actress who lights up the screen in the few scenes
she’s in – clearly having fun in a movie that doesn’t demand more from her accomplished acting
skills.

There’s much to enjoy when cars are flying around the screen, even if logic takes flight with them.
Some of the sequences are absolutely preposterous but make for such a dazzling display of
destruction, they allow you to appreciate the sheer audacity of the filmmakers to even conjure them
up! Traditional for big-budget films today, the plot leaves room for yet another outing, although at
this point one wonders how much gas is left in the tank of this franchise.

Dominic Toretto and Leslie are enjoying their honeymoon in Cuba when they notice his cousin
getting into trouble with Fernando for not being able to pay off his debts. Dom encourages Fernando
to keep it about the cars and decides to race him for the car. He breaks down his cousin’s car to
make it more efficient and manages to win the heated race by a very narrow margin. Fernando gives
the car to Dom, out of fairness, but Dom decides to let Fernando keep it, and claims that his respect
is good enough.

He hands over his own car to his cousin and goes his own way when he comes across the cyber
terrorist Cipher, who lures him by asking him to help her fix her car and eventually persuades him to
work for her. She also forces him to keep it a secret by threatening him about losing his team. She
sends him on a mission to retrieve an EMP device, which went missing from the Gulf and ended up
in Berlin, with arms dealers from the liberation front. This device has the power to wipe out an
entire electrical grid.

Dom runs into Hobbs at a football match, where Hobbs tries to persuade him to deliver the EMP
device to him. He gets together with his team and informs them of the mission. Upon reaching Berlin
Roman creates a diversion, the team steal the EMP, drop a bomb and split. On the way to Hobbs,
Dom decides to take another route and delivers the device to Cipher instead.

Hobbs gets arrested in the process. He comes across Deckard Shaw as it turns out to be the same
prison Hobbs helped place Shaw in. Restrained by their cells, the two engage in a very heated
argument and threaten each other. Soon, they are both bailed out and recruited by Mr. Nobody, an
intelligence officer, and Little Nobody. The team is furious about the choices made by Dom and
decide to work together, under the leadership of Mr. Nobody to capture Dom and Cipher. While
strategizing, Deckard mentions Cipher’s previous attempts to steal important devices, in which she
also involved Owen Shaw, Deckard’s brother. The team learns that Cipher and Dom are trying to
steal Ramsey’s software, “God’s Eye”, an already attempted theft by Owen.

They track them down and manage to get hold of them as soon as they steal the device. Amidst the
chaos, Cipher reveals that she had held Dom’s ex-lover and son, who Dom was previously unaware
of, hostage, to ensure that Dom only works for Cipher. Elena (ex-lover), meets Dom, with the son
and informs him that she would like Dom to keep his first name, since she had already decided to
keep his middle name, Marcos. Ensured of his loyalty, Cipher sends Dom on another mission, where
he manages to escape for a short while to meet Shaw’s mother and ask her for help.

The team continues to try to capture Dom as he steals a nuclear football on his most recent mission.
When they try to attack him, he escapes and shoots and apparently kills Deckard in the process.
Adding to the chaos, Cipher tries to help Dom by hacking all the cars in the city and putting them
into auto drive. With the team chasing him, and Cipher’s enforcers close to the scene, an enforcer
Connor Rhodes tries to kill Letty, but Dom saves her. To take revenge, Cipher then gets Elena killed in
front of Dom.

Cipher sends Dom to Russia, to use the EMP device which is still with her, to hijack a submarine
which will later help Cipher cause a nuclear war. Meanwhile, the team is taken to an automobile
showroom by Petty, where they are provided with modified cars to catch up to, and capture Dom.
Simultaneously, Deckard who pretended to be dead forms an accord with old members of Dom’s
team and Owen and rescues his son.

They update Dom that his son is safe and he no longer is forced to be loyal to Cipher, so he goes on
to kill Rhodes. Outraged, Cipher releases a missile to kill Dom but the entire team manages to dodge
it and the missile lands on the submarine instead. The team helps save Dom and Deckard goes to
confront Cipher on the plane, when she jumps out to avoid him.

After the series of events, Dom and his team are informed that Cipher has not backed down and
Hobbs earned his job back. However, he turned it down because he wanted to be a better father and
be with his daughter. Deckard and Dom makeup and celebrate, as Dom decides that the first name
of his son would be Brian
