ENGLISH SUMMARY
The World Wide Web brings the two protagonists, Andy and Harry, together on a nonchalant
afternoon. Andy, the suave and rich urban banker stands in a place where he shouldn’t ideally be
while his counterpart, the soft-spoken, overtly humble Harry, stands tall and firm and is
completely rooted where he is today. Both have different hopes from the destined meeting. Their
interaction brings out questions that need to be answered, truths that need to be accepted and a
life that stands to be reckoned.

“Amen” makes two characters meet, experience hope amidst confusion, explore truths about
sexuality and the self and delves into the profound meaning of life in the continuum of its
trifles.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Judhajit Bagchi (1981) and Ranadeep Bhattacharyya (1982) having completed their Masters in
Communication are currently working in ad films and documentaries as scriptwriters and directors
in Mumbai, India. Hailing from the city of Palaces, Kolkata, both are extremely passionate about
World Cinema and believe in the power of good cinema to entertain, educate and connect with the
audience at much deeper level, leaving an indelible impression. Culture and gender being their
keen areas of interest, they have made documentaries on the changing face of traditional string
Puppetry in coastal Karanataka and women empowerment in remote villages of Uttar Pradesh apart
from researching and scripting a documentary on Heritage systems and structures in Oman on behalf
of the Oman Ministry of Culture and Heritage. They also freelance as photographers and writers to
Heritage India magazine- a cultural quarterly on India.

“Amen” is their first short film on the complex issue of child sex abuse, sexuality and identity
in an urban Indian context. Between them they have jointly written, produced and directed the
film.
