Plant Maintenance - Multiple Counter Plan

For some equipment, the routine maintenance is either based on performance

or on time, like in cars the services are based on number of kilometres driven or
a standard length of time.
The service based on number of kilometres driven is called Performance Based,
while the one based on time is Time Based
So preventive maintenance can be scheduled for counter reading, by measuring
the counter with some characteristic like kilometre, so in case of a car that will
become 1000 km.
Measuring Point = 1000
Characteristic = km
So preventive maintenance needs to be done as this point is crossed.

1 - Multiple Counter Plan Create – Cycle Sets

The first step in this process is to create cycle set.
Create Cycle Set = IP11Z

New Entries
Name = name for the cycle set and the detail
Double click on the “Cycles”

Again click on New Entries

Enter the values as needed for example
Position Cycle Length Unit Description Short Text
10 1000 KM Performance based Pb
20 30 D Time based Tb
Press Save to save the Cycle Set
Next step is to create the characteristic's i.e the kilometres and days

2 - Multiple Counter Plan Create – Characteristics

Create Characteristic = CT04
Characteristic = name of the characteristic like kilometre (standard
characteristics should be already available in system)

And press the Create button

Description = fill in the description
Status = Released
Data Type = depends on the type of characteristics data, numeric or
alphanumeric
Number of Chars = 15 the length or the number of characters
Unit of measure = km

Press Save

Create a new eqp and an eqp task list.

In the task list assign an operation = service after 1000km or 30 days, plus
duration work etc.
The next step is to create a measuring point
3 - Multiple Counter Plan Create – Measuring Point
Measuring Point = IK01
Measuring Point Object = IEQ (equipment)
Equipment = the equipment created in last step
Measuring Point Category = M (measuring pt general)

Press Enter
System will give a measuring point ref = a number like a document number this
needs to noted
MeasPosition = 1000
Description = odometer reading for the car..
Characteristics = the one created earlier (example Kilometre)
Measuring Point is a counter = click check box
Press enter, system will add a filed for annual estimate
CounterOverReading = 100000 (the max value of the counter)
Annual Estimate = 12000 (if 1000/month)

And Save the measuring point, we have now created all the underlying data and
can now create the Multiple Counter Plan

4 - Multiple Counter Plan Create

Multiple Counter Plan = IP43
MaintPlanCat = choose the one required for example a notification
Cycle Set = the one created earlier

Press Enter
Maintenance Plan = give the description
Maintenance Cycle Plan Tab:
As we have entered the cycle plan, so its values for 1000km and 30 days are
shown here.
Enter the measuring point number in the Counter field for 1000km
Equipment = the one created earlier
Planning Plant = 1000
Notification Type = M1
Task List = assign the created task list for the eqp.

Maintenance Plan Scheduling Parameters Tab:

As the service requirement is either performance based (1000km) or time based
(30 days)
So the operation type = Or –Link
And save
A maintenance plan has been created.

Next step is to create a measuring document via IK11 and then schedule the plan
= IP10
Now as this is counter based, we need to verify and enter the counter reading in
the system, and as the setup has been for 1000, so an entry of 999 will not
allow the service to begin and nor a value of 1000. A value greater 1000 will like
1001 will allow the service to be done.
So a measuring document needs to be created.

5 – Measuring Document – Create

Measuring Document = IK11
Measuring point = the one created earlier

Press Enter
The value is entered by entering the difference value
If you enter a value of 990 in difference filed, the counter reading will show this
as 990 (as this is the first reading).

Save
and go back to scheduling the maintenance plan via IP10

TotalCtrReading = 990
Press Start = and change the date otherwise system will give a sort of error.

If you want to change the counter reading at this point, then go back to IK11
and change the Measuring document.
Add a difference of say 11, (990 + 11 = 1001)
TotalCtrReading = 1001 and save.

Again go back to scheduling the maintenance plan via IP10

TotalCtrReading = 1001
Press Start
Give the start date, Press enter

System accepts the counter reading and the date, Press Enter
In the Scheduling List we get the Plandate and Calldate
Select the line and click on green flag to release and save
So now complete the notification as per normal process in IW22.
