Course Description : To cater to the students’ needs pertaining to knowledge of the


tools and techniques of production planning and control /
operations management. The course would help the students in
learning the basic tools of productivity enhancement in
manufacturing as well as non-manufacturing sectors of the
industrial national and global environments. The tools and
techniques learnt would enable the students to know how to
achieve the goal of optimum utilization of resources in various
facets of production planning and control.

Course Objectives : The aim of this course is to:


1. To introduce various aspects of operation management.
2. To cover important topics related to operation management
including demand forecasting, facility management, quality
management and control, and project management.
3. To learn about supply-chain management, inventory
management, Just-In-Time and lean manufacturing,
production planning and manufacturing.

Transferrable Skills : Knowledge in production planning and control. Ability to work in


a group and conduct oral presentation.
