8.1 Chracteristics of Excelent believers (Al Mu’minun : 1-9) Man use skills and knowledge only to fulfil his role as the khalifah but also as ‘ abd allah. Allah swt lists the characteristics for how to be his loyal servants in the al – quran. Those who manage to acquire the traits are excellent believers. They who: 1. Are humble in their prayers 2. Avoid useless conversation 3. Are prayers of the poor due 4. Guard their modesty except from their wives and their female slaves 5. Are responsible for pledges and covenants made 6. Observe their prayers Allah swt has already listed the set of skills, knowledge and attitude for good ‘abd allah and knowledge workers. The challenge now is to relate the knowledge, skills and attitude to ICT. 8.2 The importance of humility Although Allah swt had ranks put humanity in the highest rank, man should declare his humbleness as the servant and the creation of Allah swt. Arrogance comes in many forms (as mentioned by the scholars) such as belittling others, looking down on others, looking at oneself as being more superior or better than others, etc. whit humility, man will willingly carryout the commandments of Allah swt with sincerity. As stated in the qur’an, Allah swt warned the believers not to boast, and he wil not guide such arrogant people. The man who has everything in his life; wealth, good job, good wife and children and receive respect from people should not feel arrogant and oppress others. …. (Al-Sajdah : 15) (Yunus :75) (shahih muslim : No 164) By being humble, ICT workers or knowledge workers will never boast about themselves., people need to be humble and show mercy to others. Part of liking goodness for others is to practice mutual consultation, enjoining goodness and forbidding evil. Advice must be given in a good way, based on love and not out personal interest. In addition, with the advancement of technology, man can propose to enjoin goodness and forbid evil through cyber world i.e. the internet. 8.3 The Connection for Humality with Al-Ihsan (forty hadith:2) In virtual organization, workers need to perform their duties as they are directly monitored by their supervisors, even though in reality they were not. Al-ihsan (the highest level of iman where we worship Allah swt. As if we see Him or if we don’t see him we know he sees us) is about fearing Allah s.w.t. and glorifying Him-This will lead humans to strive for their best and become more sincere in performing ‘ibadah. Thus, Al-Ihsan is also about the best actions of the heart. The actions that will lead to Al-Ihsan are: to love Allah s.w.t. the most, to fear Him the most, to seek His help, to have hope that He will give us mercy and guide us, and to trust Allah s.w.t. wholly. Therefore, to attain Al-lhsan, one must avoid arrogance because that feeling will keep one far away from Allah s.w.t. and others. The Muhsinun (people who have achieved Al-Ihsan level) will observe the actions of his heart carefully and cautiously. Thus, Al- lhsan characteristic is needed in virtual organisation. 8.4 Patience and Compassion The characteristics of patienceand compassion are very important since the cyber world lacks the human touch. Al-balad 17-18 Charity given to the poor person is counted as one charity, while if it is given to a relative it is counted as two: charity and connecting the ties (of kinship). ” . (Al-Tirmidhi and Al-Nasai) 8.5 Time and Direction (‘Asr and Qiblah) In ICT, time and direction are very crucial. Islam emphasises both time and direction. Knowledge workers should be concerned and particular about time and direction. “I swear by time (declining day) most surely man is in a state of loss, except for those who believe and do good deeds, and exhort one another to truth and enjoin on each other endurance (patience) (A1-'Asr:l-3) Allah s.w.t. stated firmly that all people are in a loss and destruction, except for those who believe in their hearts and work righteous deeds within their limitations. They give advice to others to perform acts of obedience and avoid forbidden things. 9.0 DRIVERS AS WISDOM WORKERS The highest stage that an ICT professionals can achieve the rank of wisdom workers, most problems they have can be solved. Ali Imran 191 The pious believers are considered wisdom workers as they utilise all creations of Allah s.w.t. in a good manner. They contemplate the true reality of things with their intelligence and sound minds. They remember Allah s.w. t. in all conditions; standing, sitting and lying with their heart and speech. They keep in their mind praises for Allah s.w.t., without any lapse, even for a moment. In other words, they will have the divine consultation in all system development and implementation. They think deeply about the creation of Allah s. w.t.; signs in the sky and earth that testify to the might, ability, knowledge, wisdom, will and mercy of the Creator. Allah s.w.t. criticizes those who do not contemplate His creations, which testify to His existence, Attributes, Shari 'ah, decree and Ayat. The faithful believers praise Allah s.w.t. and deny that He did not create something without purpose or in vain. They plead Allah s.w.t. earnestly to protect them from Hellfire and direct them to do deeds that will please Him. They also ask Allah s.w.t. to guide them, to righteousness, from which Allah s.w.t. will admit them into His delightful Paradise, and save them from His painful torment. They realize that ICT is created and provided for them not as a tool of entertainment but rather a technology that can make them close to Allah s.w.t. i 10.0 CONCLUSION M The ICT skills, knowledge and attitude are very important to knowledge workers. They are a way forward to attain the level of wisdom workers, which can solve human problems and lead them to a better world and the hereafter. Therefore, ICT workers should strive to be wisdom workers. Thus, knowledge workers should have all of the following characteristics, which are humility, patience, compassion, time and Qiblah consciousness, all the ICT skills: basic, intermediate and advanced, comprehend the cultural, social and human capital needs, always strive to benefit others (manfaat) and be just to others in order to achieve the highest rank as wisdom workers.
