Child Abuse. Chelsea House, 1989.

In this volume of the Encyclopedia of Health”, there is a clear description of the different

perspectives and aspects of the horror of child abuse and neglect. Through the chapters

found in the organized index, they provide information of the unfiltered definition of

child abuse and its types, detection, protection and prevention, and its effects on society

all through perspective. My research found in this book was valuable, due to its vast

amount of information on different subtopics in child abuse. Also, this source contains

lists of other books in the “series”, all including valuable and relevant information based

around medical cases, as the writers and editors consist of workers in that field. The

validity of this source is high. The authors and general editors restated all have “M.D.”

listed next to their names, implying that they are certified Medicinae Doctor, in other

words, doctor of medicine. After many years of medical school and getting their degree,

the information listed is accurate and of high quality, and it is all relevant to my topic in

the psychological aspect as well as general learning. Although published over ten years

ago, child abuse is still an ongoing process and cycle, therefore the source is accurate for

my research. This source is reliable, and my intentions are likely I will frequently use this

book and others similar to it.

The source listed above is from the United States National Library of Medicine. Included

in this website lie the associations between childhood maltreatment and sex work in a

cohort of drug-using youth, relevant to my topic. To travel the point across, information

is included under the conduction of a control survey of the relationship between

childhood abuse/maltreatment and the toll it takes on individuals later on in their lives.

Information is provided also on solely maltreatment. The article consists of charts, tables,

and words. These were created by thirty-four contributors, all of which are doctors and

experts of the psychology, physical, or PTSD field. The “.gov” in the web address also

depicts reliability, for domains using “.gov” tend to be due to their restricted use by

government entities in the United States. The quality of these websites are high and are

used frequently by all researchers to find validity and a non-biased domain. Additionally,

to backup my thesis, evidence is convenient, which I use this source using the survey that

trained professionals created accurately. This article will greatly aid me through my

process of writing the research paper on child abuse and its psychological effects.
