PROGRAMME FOR 2017 ENERGY SEMINAR SERIES

Theme:
“Accelerating Renewable Energy Development Towards Ghana’s Bright Energy Future”

The Energy Crisis in Ghana has persisted over the past seventeen (17) years causing a lot of havoc to
businesses. A report by the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) has indicated
that, Ghana lost between GH¢320 million to GH¢ 924 million in 2014 alone due to the power crisis. Ghana’s
electricity sub-sector is undoubtedly challenged with generation deficits.

Renewable Energy (RE) has been identified as one of the environmentally friendly options that can contribute
to solving Ghana’s energy generation deficit. The renewable energy sub-sector in Ghana is in the developing
stage and not yet matured. Although several efforts have been made by stakeholders to create awareness
of the benefits of renewable energy, the majority of the Ghanaian population still have low or poor
understanding of the RE sector.

The Brew-Hammond Energy Center is therefore organizing Energy Seminar to create awareness and discuss
pertinent issues confronting renewable energy development in Ghana.

This seminar will bring together stakeholders within government, academia and private-sector to present on
the following topic:
