Chapter 1 Overview

1.1 Description
iVMS-5200 Video Wall Client Software is module of iVMS-5200 Professional (hereafter simplified as
iVMS-5200 Pro) for configuring the video wall settings. Video Wall Client Software (hereafter
simplified as client) provides multiple operating functionalities, including scene and plan control,
video playback, configuring virtual LED and background picture, screen control, and so on.
This user manual describes the function, configuration and operation steps of iVMS-5200 Video Wall
Client Software. To ensure the proper usage and stability of the client, please refer to the contents
below and read the manual carefully before operation.

1.2 Running Environment


Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 / Windows 8/ Windows 8.1 (32 / 64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i3-530 and above
Memory: 4GB and above
Video Card: GeForce GTX 240 and above
Note: For high stability and good performance, these above system requirements must be met.

The iVMS-5200 Control Client is composed of the following tabs:
The Video Wall module provides the function of video wall settings and
Video Wall displaying the video stream from the encoding devices can be decoded
and displayed on the Video Wall.
The Screen Control module provides the configuration for the screens of
Screen Control the video wall, such as screen type, opening screen, closing screen, input
source and image parameters.
The System Configuration module provides the configuration of the file
System Configuration
saving paths and auto-login.
The function modules are easily accessed by clicking the tabs or by selecting the function module
from the View or Tool menu.
You can check the information, including current user, network usage, CPU usage, RAM usage and
time, in the upper-right corner of the main page.

Chapter 2 Login
When opening iVMS-5200 Video Wall Client Software, you can login with the user name and
password of iVMS-5200 Pro.
Two kinds of user (normal user and domain user) are supported for accessing the iVMS-5200 Pro.
Please refer to the User Manual of iVMS-5200 Professional Web Client for the detailed introduction.
Option 1: Login with Normal User
Steps:

1. Double-click on the desktop to run the client.


2. Select Normal Login and input the normal user name and password of the iVMS-5200 Pro.
Note: By default, the user name of the iVMS-5200 Pro is admin and the password is 12345.

 The default password (12345) for the Admin account is for first-time log-in purposes only.
You must change this default password to better protect against security risks, such as the
unauthorized access by others to the product that may prevent the product from
functioning properly and/or lead to other undesirable consequences. Please login the
iVMS-5200 Professional via Web Client to change the password.
 For your privacy, you must change the password to something of your own choosing (using
a minimum of 8 characters, including upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and
special characters) in order to increase the security of your product.
 Proper configuration of all passwords and other security settings is the responsibility of the
installer and/or end-user.
3. (Optional) Check the checkbox Remember Password to keep the password.
4. (Optional) Check the checkbox Auto-login to log into the software automatically.
5. Set the address and port No. of the CMS.
Note: If these fields are not displayed, click Show Server Address to show them. You can also
click Hide Server Address to collapse these fields.
 In the drop-down list, input the address of the CMS that you want to connect to.
 In the text field, input the port No. of the CMS. By default, it’s 80.
6. Click Login to enter the client.

Option 2: Login with Domain User


Steps:
1. Click Domain Login tab and select the domain user.
2. (Option 1) If you select your own domain account (the current user account that log into your
PC), you can check the Enable Auto-login checkbox to log into the software automatically next
time.
3. (Option 2) If you select other user, enter the user name and password. Optionally, you can check
the checkbox Remember Password to keep the password and check the Auto-login checkbox to
log into the software automatically next time.
4. Set the address and port No. of the CMS.
Note: If these fields are not displayed, click Show Server Address to show them. You can also
click Hide Server Address to collapse these fields.
 In the drop-down list, input the address of the CMS that you want to connect to.
 In the text field, input the port No. of the CMS. By default, it’s 80.
5. Click Login to enter the client.

Chapter 3 Start Wizard


After login, the start wizard will pop up to guide you to go through the basic operations of the client
software if you have not gone through it completely, including adding/editing the video wall and
linking the output with the video wall.
Note: You can check the checkbox Do Not Show Next Time and the wizard will not pop up at the next
time you run the client.
Click Open Wizard to start the wizard for video wall settings.

Steps:
1. The software provides a default video wall view which is 4X4. You can edit the name, row
number and column number for the video wall. You can also click-and-drag your mouse to set
the needed video wall.
2. Click Next to configure the output linkage with the video wall.
3. Click-and-drag the decoding output on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, to
configure the one-to-one correspondence. You can also click and hold the Ctrl or Shift key to
select multiple outputs and then drag them to the video wall for configuring linkage in batch.
4. (Optional) You can select an output and click to edit its parameters. You can check the
checkbox of Batch Configuration and select other outputs to copy the settings to. You can click
and select the decoding device for showing the output No. of the decoding output for easily
locating the output on the physical video wall.
Note: For HDMI and VGA outputs, the resolution can be configured; for BNC output, the video
standard can be configured.
5. Click Done to complete the wizard.
After configuring the wizard, you can display the video on the video wall. Please refer to Chapter 5
Displaying Video on Video Wall.

Chapter 4 Configuring Video Wall Settings


Purpose:
If you skip the wizard, you can perform the following instruction for video wall settings before you can
display the video on the video wall.

Linking Decoding Output with Video Wall

Steps:
1. On the Video Wall page, a default video wall view with the window division of 4*4 is provided.
Click and select Modify Video Wall to edit the existing video wall.
2. In the pop-up window, you can edit the name, row number, column number and proportion of
the video wall as desired.
3. Click-and-drag the decoding output on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, to
configure the one-to-one correspondence. You can also click and hold the Ctrl or Shift key to
select multiple outputs and then drag them to the video wall for configuring linkage in batch. You
can select a linked display window and click Cancel to release the linkage, or click Cancel All to
release all the linked windows.
4. (Optional) You can select an output and click to edit its parameters. You can check the
checkbox of Batch Configuration and select other outputs to copy the settings to. You can click
and select the decoding device for showing the output No. of the decoding output for easily
locating the output on the physical video wall.
Notes:
 Only 1 video wall can be added to the client software.
 The total number of the display windows of the video wall should be no more than 16*20.
 The range of the row number is between 1 and 16, and column number is between 1 and
20.
5. Click Edit or Add to save the settings.

Configuring Background

Purpose:
You can upload pictures for showing as the background of the video wall.
Note: The function should be supported by the decoding device.
Steps:
1. Select a video wall and click Background Picture.
2. Click to select a picture file from your PC and click OK to upload the picture.
3. Click-and-drag the background picture item to the desired position of the video wall and a
background window displays. You can move the window when the cursor becomes and
adjust its size when the cursor becomes directional arrow.
4. Check the checkbox of Show to show the background picture on the physical video wall.

Configuring Virtual LED

Purpose:
You can display the required contents on the video wall by using virtual LED.
Note: The function should be supported by the decoding device.
Steps:
1. Select a video wall and click Virtual LED.
2. In the Current Virtual LED field, input the content that you want to display on the video wall.
3. Click Configuration and set the following parameters.
 Show Mode: Select the mode of the virtual LED as desired.
 Font Size: Set the size of the displayed text.
 Font Color: Set the color of the displayed text by clicking Color.
 Background Color: Set the color of the background by clicking Color.
 Moving Mode: Set the scrolling effect for the displayed text.
 Moving Direction: Set the scrolling direction for the displayed text.
 Moving Speed: Set the moving speed for the displayed text.
4. Click-and-drag the virtual LED item to the desired position of the video wall and a virtual LED
window displays. You can move the window when the cursor becomes and adjust its size
when the cursor becomes directional arrow.
5. Click Show or Hide to display or hide the virtual LED on the physical video wall.

Configuring Logo

Purpose:
You can upload a picture as the logo to display it on the physical video wall.
Note: The function should be supported by the decoding device.
Steps:
1. Select a video wall and click Logo.
2. Click to select a picture file from your PC and click OK to upload the picture.
3. In the Position X and Position Y field, input the x-coordinate and y-coordinate value to display
logo at desired position of the video wall.
4. Check the checkbox of Show to show the logo on the physical video wall. You can check the
checkbox of Flashing to display the flashing logo on the physical video wall.

Chapter 5 Displaying Video on Video Wall


Purpose:
After the settings of the video wall, the video stream from the encoding devices can be decoded and
displayed on the Video Wall.

Decoding and Displaying

Steps:
1. Click Scene to display the scene panel. Click to add a new scene. You can click to edit
the name for the scene, click to delete the scene.
2. Click-and-drag the camera on the signal source panel to the display window of video wall. The
video stream from the camera will be decoded and displayed on the video wall. You can also
select a decoding window and then double-click a camera to decode and display the video. You
can also click and hold the Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple cameras and then drag them to the
video wall.
3. Select a display window which is linked with signal source, the video of the signal source displays
on the window in the lower panel of the interface. You can also directly drag a camera to the
preview window for live view.
4. Select a decoding window and click to set the window division for it. Then the screen can
display multiple videos.
5. Click to save the settings to the scene. In this way, you can easily view the required live
videos on the video wall by calling this scene (click the of the corresponding scene). You can
also click to save the current settings to other scene.
The following icons are available on the video wall interface:
Start the decoding and display for all the windows.
Stop the decoding and display for all the windows.
Close all the windows that are decoding and displaying video.
Open a new window on the screen(s). The window can be within a screen
or span multiple screens.
Refresh the decoding status.

/ Stop / Start the decoding of the selected window/

Click to set the auto-switch interval and the video stream of the
cameras from the same group will switch automatically in a selected
display window.
Record the video of the selected window.
Capture the picture of the selected window.
Set window division for the selected window.
Always stick the window at the bottom layer.
Lock the window to disable the roaming function.
Display the window in full-screen mode.

Windowing and Roaming Settings

Purpose:
Windowing is to open a new window on the screen(s). The window can be within a screen or span
multiple screens. You can move the playing window within the video wall as desired and this function
is called roaming.
Note: The windowing and roaming function should be supported by the decoding device.
Steps:
1. Select a signal source for opening window.
2. Click and then click-and-drag on a screen which links to a decoding output to open a
window. The window can be within a screen or span multiple screens. If you want to open a
window on the opened window, click-and-drag and hold the Ctrl key to create one. And for the
locked window (refer to step 6), you can click-and-drag to create a new window on it.
3. You can move the window when the cursor becomes and adjust its size when the cursor
becomes directional arrow. You can also hold the Shift key to scale the window in proportion.
The window will be adjusted to align with the borders if it is moved to the location near the
border of the screen.
4. Double-click the window and it will enlarge to fill the spanning screens and display on the top
layer. You can double-click again to restore.

5. (Optional) Select a window and click to set the window division for it.
6. Select a window and click to disable the roaming function, and the icon shows on the
top-right corner of the window. In this way, the window cannot be moved and resized. You can
click again to recover the roaming function.

7. Select the roaming window and click , or move the mouse to the window and click in the
upper-right corner to stop the decoding of the window and it will be closed. You can also
click to close all the roaming windows.

PTZ Control

Purpose:
If the decoded camera supports PTZ control, you can pan, tilt or zoom the camera, call the defined
presets of the camera, and operate other PTZ control.
Note: This function should be supported by the camera.
Steps:
1. Click-and-drag the camera on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, or you can
open a window if supported.
2. Click to display the PTZ control panel.

3. The following buttons are available on the PTZ Control panel:

Direction Button and Auto-scan

Zoom
Focus
Iris
PTZ Speed
Light
Wiper
4. If the camera has predefined presets, you can click to select the preset and click the icon to
call it, and the camera will move to the predefined image position which contains information of
pan, tilt, zoom, focus and other parameters.

Configuring Playback

Purpose:

The record file is supported to be played back on the video wall.


Note: Playback function should be supported by the decoding device.
Steps:
1. Click-and-drag the camera on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, or you can
open a window if supported.
2. Click Start Playback to start searching the record files of the camera.
3. If there is record file of current day, the record file will be played back automatically. If not, you
can set the search condition on the search panel (click to show the date and click More
Search Conditions to specify more conditions), and click Search to find the record file.
The following icons are available for control the playback:

/ Pause / Start Pause/Start the playback.

Delete View Delete the custom view.


Slow Forward Play back the record file at a slower speed.
Fast Forward Play back the record file at a faster speed.
Start/Stop the clipping of the record file. The clipped file is stored
/ Start/Stop Clipping
in the PC.
Capture Capture the picture in the playback process.

Configuring Cycle Decoding

Purpose:
The cycle decoding refers that you can configure multiple video streams of encoding devices to one
decoding output and you can set the switching interval for the decoding.
Note: The cycle decoding is only supported by decoding device.
Steps:
1. Click-and-drag the camera on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, or you can
open a window if supported.
2. Click-and-drag a group to the window.
3. Click beside and set the switching interval for the cycle decoding and click to start
cycle decoding. You can view the cycle decoding on the physical video wall. You can click to
stop the cycle decoding.

Window Configuration

Purpose:
You can set the window as the alarm window to display the video triggered by event or alarm input
on video wall, you can also set the decoding delay, image parameters.
Note: The function should be supported by the decoding device.
Steps:
1. Click-and-drag the camera on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, or you can
open a window if supported.
2. Click Window Configuration to pop up the configuration dialog box.

3. Configure the parameters as needed. The window status shows the current status of the selected
window.
 Alarm Window: Display the video triggered by event or alarm input on the selected window
of the video wall.
 Decoding Delay: Set the delay status of the decoding according to the actual needs.
 Fluent Video: Enable this function to increase the frame rate of the video for playing the
video more smoothly.
 3D DNR: Enable this function to reduce the noise in the video stream
 Defog: Enable this function when the environment is foggy and the image is misty. It
enhances the subtle details so that the image appears clearer.
 Low Illumination: Enable this function
Note: Some functions should be supported by the decoding device.
4. Click OK to save the settings.

Decoding Status

Purpose:
The decoding status of the select window can be checked. You can view the window No., video
stream, resolution, frame rate, and so on.
Steps:
1. Click-and-drag the camera on the left-side list to the display window of video wall, or you can
open a window if supported.
2. Click Decoding Status to pop up the window. You can check the decoding status of the selected
window. Click Refresh and you can get the latest status.

Chapter 6 Configuring Plan


Purpose:
The plan function of video wall controller provides the switching the configured scene(s) and turning
on or off the screens at a certain time. You can also set the time schedule for switching the operations
(such as scene, close screens) and the plan can also be auto-switched.
Note: This function is only supported by the video wall controller.
Before you start:
Scene(s) should be added for the video wall controller. Please refer to Chapter 5 Displaying Video on
Video Wall for adding scenes.
Steps:
1. Click to display the Plan panel, click to pop up the Plan Settings window.

2. Set the parameters for the plan:


 Nickname: Edit a name for the plan as desired.
 Mode: Select the mode to execute the plan. Manual, Auto and Auto-switch are selectable.
 Manual: Automatically execute the plan until you stop calling the plan manually.
 Auto: Execute the plan according to the configured start time and execution times in
Parameters panel.
 Auto-Switch: Execute the plan according to the configured time schedule and
execution times in Parameters panel.
 Plan Task: Set the operations for the plan. The plan will be execute the added operations in
order.
 Add: Add an operation for the plan. If you select the Task Type as Display Scene, you
can select the configured scene in the Scene drop-down list and set the dwell time. If
you select the Task Type as Open Screen or Close Screen, you can select the screen
type for opening or closing and set the dwell time.
 Up: Move the selected operation up.

 Down: Move the selected operation down.


 Delete: Remove the selected operation..
 Parameters: If you select Auto as the mode, you can set the Start Time and Execution Times.
E.g., you set the Start Time as 2014-06-04 00:00:00 and Execution Times as 4, then the plan
will be executed from 2014-06-04 00:00:00 and continuously for 4 times before stopping. If
you select Auto-switch as the mode, you can set the Weekday Settings and Execution Times.
E.g., you set the Weekday Settings as 10:30:00 of Mon and 08:30:00 of Wed, and Execution
Times as 6, the plan will be executed from 10:30:00 of Monday and continuously for 6 times,
then from 08:30:00 of Wednesday and continuously for 6 times. The next week, the plan
will be executed at the configured time.
3. Click OK to save the settings.
4. To call a plan, select a plan and click to enable the plan. For editing the plan, select a plan
and click to edit the settings for it. You can click to delete the configured plan. To stop
the plan, click of the plan.

Chapter 7 Configuring Video Wall Screens


Purpose:
The screens of the video wall can be configured, including screen type, opening screen, closing screen,
input source and image parameters.
Steps:
1. Click Screen Control tab to enter the screen control page.

2. Click-and-drag on the video wall to select the screen(s) and configure the parameters for them:
 Serial Port Protocol: Select the serial port that the screen uses.
 Screen Protocol: Select the type for the selected screens since different screen types adopt
different communication protocols.
 Screen Control: Operate the screen(s). You can open or close the selected screens. Or open
or close all the screens.
 Input Source: Select the input source for the screen and click Save to save the settings.
 Image Parameters: Click or to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation or
definition for the screen(s).
 Image Position: Click or to adjust the image position on the screen(s).

Chapter 8 Alarm Information


Purpose:
The alarm information (for example, motion detection alarm information) received by the iVMS-5200
Video Wall Client Software displays. You can check the detailed information of the alarm, manage the
alarm information, and so on.
Note: You should configure the event settings and set the Video Wall Display as the alarm linkage for
the event via Web Client before you can receive the related alarm information via iVMS-5200 Video
Wall Client Software. For detailed configuration of event settings, please refer to User Manual of
iVMS-5200 Professional Web Client.
Steps:
1. Click at the bottom of the interface to display the Alarm Information panel.

2. The received alarm information displays on the panel.


 Alarm Time: The start time of the alarm.
 Alarm Name: The name of the alarm.
 Alarm Content: The content of the alarm. For manual alarm, the content includes the name
of the user who sent the alarm and the alarm type; for VCA alarm, the content includes the
device information, the alarm triggered device and the rule name; for other alarm, the
content includes the device information and the alarm triggered device.
 Alarm Status: The status of the alarm, including Start, Unconfirmed; Start, Confirmed; Stop,
Unconfirmed; Stop, Confirmed. Start means the alarm has not stopped yet and Confirmed
means the alarm has been acknowledged by the user.
 Alarm Level: The level including low, medium and high which indicates the urgent degree of
the alarm.
 Handle Alarm: You can click to display the video triggered by the alarm on the video
wall.
Note: You should configure a window as the alarm window. For details, please refer to
Chapter 5 Displaying Video on Video Wall.
3. You can check the checkbox of Auto Link to Video Wall to display the video triggered by the
alarm on the video wall automatically.
4. To delete the alarm, right-click the alarm and click Clear. Or you can click to delete all the
alarms.

Chapter 9 Log Search


Purpose:
You can search and view the CMS (Central Management Server) logs which refers to the log files of the
iVMS-5200 Pro.
Steps:
1. Select Log Search under Tool in the menu bar.
2. Select the Log Type and the corresponding search condition. There are 3 log types available,
including Alarm Log, Operation Log and System Log.
 Alarm Log: You can select the alarm type for query, such as motion detection and video
loss.
 Operation Log: You can select the operation type and the user name.
 System Log: You can select the system type and the user name.
3. Click the icon to specify the start time and end time.
4. Click Search. The matched log files will display on the list.
You can check the operation time, description and other information of the logs. For alarm log
files, you can also check the alarm linked picture and record file (if configured) in the Linkage
column.
Note: Please narrow the search condition if there are too many log files.

Backing up Log Files

Purpose:

The log files can be exported to your PC.


Steps:
1. Search the needed log files.
2. Click Backup Log to open the Backup Log dialog box.
3. Click the icon and select a local saving path.
4. Click Backup to export the found log files.

Chapter 10 System Configuration


Purpose:
The manual recording files and the captured pictures are stored on your PC. The saving paths of these
files can be configured. You can also configure whether to login the client automatically.
Steps:
1. Click System Configuration tab.
2. Check the checkbox of Auto-login if you need to remember the user name and password of the
iVMS-5200 Pro and log into the client automatically next time.
3. Click the icon and select a local path for the corresponding files.
 Saving Path of Video File: The video file refers to the manual recording files during live
view.
 Saving Path of Captured Pictures: The pictures refer to the captured pictures during live
view.
4. Click Save to save the settings. Or you can click Restore to set the items to default values.
