Incoming Global Volunteer - Condition Terms

Welcome to AIESEC in Chapecó!

Congratulations again on your acceptance as a trainee to one of our Global Volunteering projects. We are
very excited about having you here!

There are only a few more things we’d like to establish with you before your arrival. Below there is a
collection of everything we’ve already discussed during interview, forms and emails – this is just a more
organized way of making sure you are aware of our conditions and that your expectations are aligned with
the experience you are about to have.

Please read this document carefully and return it to us, signed and scanned, via email. Don’t forget to initial
the first page of this document, in which your signature is not included. Please note that this must be
returned before your project in Chapecó starts.

EXPECTATIONS LIST

1) Chapecó a medium city, you may have to take one to two buses a day to your house and work place
(NGO, university, etc.). It is also possible that your host will be distant from the city center.

2) Housing is provided and covered (accommodation is free) via Host Family. Host Families do not
receive any sort of financial compensation for participating in the program.

3) Being in a Host Family, you are guaranteed of: a mattress, space on the refrigerator and space to
store your luggage. It is possible that you’ll share a room with one or more people and that you won’t have
access to a wardrobe. What you must do in return is follow household rules. Behaviors like arriving drunk
or late at your Host or any kind of disrespect to the house rules will not be tolerated and might end in the
trainee's lost of the right to a host.

4) We do not cover transportation or food costs (though, some NGOs might offer one meal per work day,
confirm its availability with your project manager). We recommend that you bring at least 450 USD (for the
six-week period) to cover those expenses, but make sure to check the prices of different means of
transportation and food in Chapecó.

5) If a violation of any country (Brazil) and/or state (Santa Catarina) laws is proven, the break of RE
(summary ending of any ties to AIESEC in Chapecó, the host family, the NGO/university and the project in
which the trainee is working) will be automatic. An example of this would be the use of marijuana or any
type of illicit drug, which will get you automatically cut off the project.

6) The awarding of a certificate is directly proportional to your attendance in LEAD sessions and work
days. To be awarded a certificate by AIESEC in Chapecó, you must be present in at least 90% of your work
days, project meetings and any other activity obligatory to the project (for example, Portuguese classes).
In order to justify your absence, you must inform your project manager and it can only fall into one of the
following categories: (1) serious illness or injury or (2) host-related emergency. However, we
reserve the right of not accepting justifications that resulted from morning sicknesses after ‘nights
out’/drinking, etc.

7) Be punctual. Being more than 30 minutes late to your meetings or work days will be considered an
absence.

8) You will be working between Monday to Friday and you will have project meetings once a week.
Established working hours will amount to up to 20 hours a week.

9) Weekends are off – however, please note that we will be organizing different cultural events throughout
the weekends, and it is possible that your NGO or university invites you to events on those days (accepting
those invitations is up to you).

10) Our NGOs are mostly located in favelas (slums) and/or in underprivileged communities which are
often not close to the city center or the beach.

11) My TN Fee (35 USD), I'm going to pay in my first week of arrival in Chapecó.

12) If you have any kind of allergies, diseases or phobias (like asthma, problems with animals, etc.) you
must warn us on the Pre-arrival Form (bit.ly/PreArrivalForm), so that the best conditions are arranged.

13) We recommend to you to realize your project until June 2018. We don’t take responsibility if anything
happen to AIESEC in Chapecó (for exemple if it closes) after this year.

I, Jean Pierre José Cabrera Hernández, certify that I understand and agree to the terms of this document
as stated above.
