TASK 1: Fill in the gaps: “biodiversity”, “habitats”, “protect”, “quarry” and “wetland”
Rehabilitation
Quarries can be restored to create new habitats and recreational facilities. Many restored
gravel quarries are now used as water sports facilities, while new wetland areas may enhance
biodiversity. Elsewhere, large areas of floodplains from which minerals have been extracted
have been left as, washlands, areas that can store water during periods of intense rain to
protect inhabited areas from inundation. If a quarry is intended for restoration to a wetland
after use consideration needs to be taken of the potential for birds attracted by water to cause
a hazard to aircraft. Specific design criteria may be needed to ensure that certain species of
bird are not encouraged.

Because the life in our planet depends of the species biological that live in the Earth.
The flora and fauna provide us with food, energy, ingredients for medicines, raw
material for various activities.
TASK 6:
Explain or give why the extinction one species can have great impacts on the
balance of our ecosystem?
An example is excessive cut down, producing dramatic changes in the climate: the
rains and temperature high in different parts of the Earth. The solutions more
obvious is the handling and use moderate of them resources plant, animals and
minerals.
