There are more social processes happening in rural communities in terms of interaction within
the place. Most people live in rural areas know each other, therefore there will be more verbal
interaction and as well as changing ideas and awareness of what is happening in the community.
And these things affect peoples’ behavior in the situation they have. One good example of this is
it’s easy for people in the rural community to ask help from their neighbors. And for the
children, they have more space to play with other kids and the result is more interactions are
happening which also affects their social processes. But nowadays, people use technology rather
than actual interaction and I think major thing to be considered.
People live in urban communities are more expose with technology, modern living, easy access
with things they need. So the tendency is just to rely on their capabilities. There is less
interaction with the people in the neighborhood because the focus is on their work. Most of
them are work driven individual maybe because of their environment. And these things also
affect their social processes.
2. We inherited a lot of influence from the west. One of the reasons is we use English language as
the primary medium for teaching so Filipinos learned to appreciate western culture from food,
music, etc. Too much appreciation leads to adoption of some of their behaviors as well.
Example, western countries like U.S when a person reached the age of 18 he must live
independently. Democracy is another influence we got from the west. The erosion of Filipino
families is cause of either mother or the father having extra marital affair which for some is
normal. We can see other woman groups are forcing the government to make laws legalizing
divorce. Because in western countries divorce is normal so it is very easy for them to change
partners even they have kids.
3. By using modern technology and equipment people become lazy. Before things are made
manually using manpower but now it is all about machine and technology. Problems are;
a. The earth becomes polluted because of the carbon dioxide emission from these machines
use by factories.
b. By relying on these modern technologies and equipment people become less productive.
c. The modernization of society lessens the land for food production. Lands intended for food
production before are now landscaped for urbanization of the place.
d. Computers, internet, socials media easy access expose children and youth to things which
are not suited for them. Information nowadays is just one click away.
e. People can create person who doesn’t exist at all using social media which they use to fool
people and worst to make a crime.
