Re: Investigation of Attorney General Bill Schuette
Dear Mr. Cunningham,
On December 17, 2017 the Detroit Free Press published the results of an in-depth
investigation of Attorney General Bill Schuette hiring current and former campaign workers on
his tax payer-funded staff. A copy is attached
Attorney General Schuette has repeatedly stated that investigating and stopping public
corruption is a high priority for him and the Department.
Since no one, including Attorney General Bill Schuette, is above the law this is to request.
oon behalf of the people of Michigan an investigation of the hiring practices detailed by the
Detroit Free Press.
If you are unable or unwilling to launch such an investigation, independent counsel
should be hired to do so. Public confidence in the Department of Attorney General demands no
less,
Very truly yours,
—

Re: — Audit of the Department of
Attorney General
Dear Mr. Ringler,
According to the website of the Michigan Auditor General, the Auditor General
undertakes investigative audits of state government which take place as a result of a reported
allegation of fraud, waste, or abuse involving State government officials, State employees, or
entities receiving State money or other support. These audits are designed to detect and deter the
misappropriation of public assets and to reduce future occurrences.
On December 17, 2017 the Detroit Free Press published a detail account of fraud, waste
and abuse of State money by Attorney General Bill Schuette who has hired current and former
campaign workers on his taxpayer-funded staff. A copy of the article is attached.
This is to request that the Auditor General begin an investigative audit of these very
troubling practices of Attomey General Schuette which constitute clear examples of fraud, waste
and abuse.
The taxpayers of Michigan deserve to know whether they are funding the political
campaign of Bill Schuette.
Very truly yours,
Lonnie Scott
