Calico jack Rackham- Interests- Gold, freedom, rum, Women. Age- 37. Occupation-
pirate. Family Background- no known family but it is believed that he moved to the
Americas when he was young this would lead us to assume that he came from a poor
family. Ethnicity and social class- English colonist most
probably working class. Conflicts- the conflict is that jack
at this time in history was having trouble with drink and so
would drink too much. What motivates them- jack is
motivated by money and rum and will do anything to be
remembered. Relationships with others- lover of Anne
bonny and possibly Mary read rescued Anne from her
husband does not much care for William

Anne Bonny-

Interests- Gold Freedom, Equal opportunities for

women and eventually living a happy life. Age- 20.
Occupation-pirate. Family Background- illegitimate
daughter of a lawyer moved to Carolina to start again
lost her mother while she was a teenager fell in love
with a pirate and so her father disowned her.
Ethnicity and social class- Irish colonist raised in
wealth before getting kicked out by her farther.
Conflicts- can’t decide between loving Mary or jack as
jack left her in Cuba while she was pregnant and it is
unclear whether the child survived or not. What
motivates them- Anne is motivated by the desire to
be the love of a pirate that seeks the adventure but
does not want to go back to the old world, as it is
thrilling. Relationships with others- Lover of both Jack and Mary and respects William as he treats
her the same as the men and he sees him as a friend and so is more willing to open up to him.
Mary read-

Interests- Gold, freedom, rum and sex. Age- 36. Occupation-

pirate former soldier. Family Background- Farther died before
she was born, her half-brother mark passed away shortly
afterwards, Grandmother supported her and her mother only
because she thought Mary’s half-brother was still alive. Raised
as a boy. Ethnicity and social class- White English lower class
although she was supported until her grandmother found out
the truth Conflicts- had to pretend to be a man, unknowing
but pregnant on board the revenge at the time of the
ambush. What motivates them- the desire to prove that
women are equal to men in every way motivates Mary.
Relationships with others- Mary is a lover of Anne and
possible lover of jack, she doesn’t see William as anything
special but she does have a bond with him as they both have had to lead the men at points.

William Richards-

Interests- Adventure, Freedom for all, a world where everything is free, Money,
Rum and building a home for his son. Age- 29. Occupation- pirate former soldier.
Family Background- Wife passed due to smallpox Young son waits in England with
his Aunt awaiting the return of his dad. Ethnicity and social class- White English
middle class. Conflicts- deciding to end his career as a pirate soon so he can go
back to his son, antagonistic to Calico Jack. What motivates them- The desire to
see his son grow old. Relationships with others- Dislikes Calico Jack as he sees
him as a useless captain although he respects him, Respects Ann Bonny and
admires her as she is unique, is Close with Mary read and helps lead the crew of
the ship when Jack is too intoxicated.
Jonathan Barnet-

Interests- Money, land, Profit and recognition Control. Age- 38 Occupation-

pirate Hunter/ Governor. Family Background- Jonathan wealthy British governor
who controlled a little island and ran a successful trade route until it was raided
by pirates. Ethnicity and social class- rich upper class British governor Conflicts-
pirate hunter employed by the British government to hunt calico jack. What
motivates them- money and stopping his trade route from being raided and
becoming more recognised in the world he believed that it killing a famous
pirate this would happen. Relationships with others- want to kill pirates in order
to gain wealth and hates jack as he sees him as the main man who cost him his
money.
