Instruction / Procedure

1. Visual Inspection of the wash head




   
 
 

 
(5th) aspiration needle (i.e. last Aspiration Needle) is longer by approx. 1mm as compared to them.
In addition, after screwing in the Drying Block, it should be longer by approx. 2mm when compared
to the last Aspiration Needle.

2. Adjustment of the washer head
2.1. Horizontal Adjustment of the washer head

If the horizontal wash head position is misaligned, you could adjust this misalignment with the
following steps.

2.1.1 Log as Service using password: 31415.

2.1.2 Go to Maintenance/Service/Calibration/Mechanical and choose Washer
2.1.3 Press Start and then Last.
2.1.4 Check that the drying block is on position 16!
2.1.5 Press the Key “w” for move the washer head down till the washer is complete in the cuvette
number 16.
2.1.6 Release the two Allen screws (2,5mm). After you lose those screws you could move the washer
head forward, backward, turn clockwise or anticlockwise. Be shure that the drying block is
coming down without pressure after lifting up by hand. Be shure that the steel needles don´t

 
  

aligning!

2.2. Vertical adjustment of the washer head

2.2.1 Log as Service using password: 31415.

2.2.2 Go to Maintenance/Service/Calibration/Mechanical and choose Washer
2.2.3 Press Start and then Last.
2.2.4 By using arrows on the screen, lower the wash head down to the cuvette, making sure the
drying block goes into cuvette #16.
2.2.5 During mechanical calibration, take care when aligning the needles in the centre of the cu-
vette to ensure that they do not scratch the walls and optical windows. Also, ensure smooth
movement of drying block, which allows it to move in and out of the cuvette without any re-
striction. To make sure the position of the drying block is correct, move the Wash head down
the cuvette and lift the drying block a few times to check whether it jumps back to the cuvet-
te without touching the cuvette walls.
2.2.7 After proper alignment, lower the washing head until you see the drying block lifting and
creating a small gap (aprox 2mm)
2.2.8 Perform additional steps down until the Last aspiration needle moves and similar gap is 1mm

washing arm plus the reaction tray. If you observe any lateral movement, repeat the mechani-
cal calibration including the calibration of the reaction tray position. After the test procedure,
remove the cuvettes on which you performed the test and check for scratches. If the cuvettes

Please do these steps for the front and back reaction tray!

3. Check the adjustment of the washer head

For checking the adjustment please perform the system test “Washer Hydraulics” and “Washer”.
After both system test passed, please run 10x controls (High and low) for an End Point, Kinetic and
Fixed Time. The CV% should be lower than 5.
