An introduction of the laboratory equipment is important to support the experiment

activities. Therefore, the introduction of the chemical apparatus that will be used at the
chemistry laboratory is important. There are many chemical apparatus that you can find in the
chemistry laboratory, especially a stopper and a drop plate.

Stopper is a cylindrical in shape, which is

used to close the erlenmeyer or the test tube and
prevent the gases from spreading. Stoppers can
also prevent the contamination of samples by
protecting the contents of laboratory glassware
from air. It made of glass or Rubber, depend on
the stopper itself. A glass stopper is called ground
glass joint or joint taper. The main properties that
make rubber suitable for use as a laboratory
stopper are its elasticity and impermeability, but
the glass stopper is more likely used than the rubber stopper, because it is hardly to react. To
take care of this apparatus, clean it by water after using it and keep it in the safe place.

Spot plate is a flat plate with craters or surface

scars on it. It is made of white porcelain and usually it has
twelve craters on it. Its size is 11.5 cm x 9 cm and 1 cm
radii on each crater. it is used to perform many small-
scale reactions at one time. If the spot plate doesn’t exist,
it will be hard to perform many small-scale reactions at
one time because of many test tube must be used to do the
experiment. To take care of this apparatus, clean it by water after using it and keep it in the
safe place.

The stopper and spot plate have different characteristics and functions, but they are
very useful in the experimental activity. They can be found in chemistry laboratory and
please use it carefully
