PREREQUISITE: 410211 Mechanics of Material I

DESCRIPTION: The course covers the fundamentals and mechanics in

determining the structural loads and member forces, influence
lines, and deflections of the structural system. The emphasis is
on using the intuitive classical approach to develop the
understanding the basic principles of structural analysis. The
course intends to lay the basic foundation for the study of the
computer structural analysis.

STUDY OBJECTIVES: The students are expected to be able to apply the theory to
structures involving the strategy in the process of formulation,
execution, and the diagrammatic interpretation of the results.
They are expected to be proficient in the construction of axial,
shear, bending-moment diagrams, elastic curves, and influence
line of determinate structures such as beams, frames, and
trusses. They are expected to be able to apply the concept to
simple indeterminate structures.
