For Live load of Train in station:

Moving load analysis for 6 coach configuration is carried out separately for the current station
arrangement.

Axle load = 15 Tonnes or 150kN

Co-efficient of Dynamic Augment (CDA) =1.39

Live load of train with CDA per wheel = 1.39*150/2 =104.25kN

From the above analysis, 4 critical train positions on the station which will have maximum/minimum
bending moment and shear are identified.

The same has been transferred to the main station model.

Braking load = 18% of the Live load of train with CDA has been considered.

Traction load = 20% of the Live load of train with CDA has been considered.

Braking and Traction is considered along the same direction, to simulate the worst effect.

For Live load on end of station from viaduct:

3 Axles are considered in 7.5m spacing

Load = 3*1.39*150*2 =1251kN

Load distributed on 2 nodes =1251/2 =626kN

For Live load of Train in viaduct on portal:

Moving load analysis for 6 coach configuration is carried out separately for the pier arrangement of
viaduct.

Axle load/train = 15 Tonnes or 150kN

Axle load for r2 train = 30 Tonnes or 300kN

Co-efficient of Dynamic Augment (CDA) =1.39

Live load of train with CDA = 1.39*300 =417kN

From the above analysis, maximum reaction at portal is obtained.

For Grid 9, concentrated force = 1954kN

For Grid 10, concentrated force = 2117kN

Wind Load (WL)

Height = up to 10m

Page |4
Basic wind speed (vb) =33m/s

Risk co-efficient (k1) =1.05

Terrain height and structure size factor (k2) =0.82 [for Terrain Catergory-3 & Class-C]

Topography factor (k3) =1.00

Design wind speed (vz)=vbxk1xk2xk3=33*1.05*0.82*1.00=28.413m/s

Design wind pressure (Pz) = 0.6*vz2=484N/m2~ 0.75kN/m2

Height = 10m - 15m

Basic wind speed (vb) =33m/s

Risk co-efficient (k1) =1.05

Terrain height and structure size factor (k2) =0.87 [for Terrain Catergory-3 & Class-C]

Topography factor (k3) =1.00

Design wind speed (vz)=vbxk1xk2xk3=33*1.05*0.87*1.00=30.146m/s

Design wind pressure (Pz) = 0.6*vz2=545N/m2~ 0.75kN/m2

These wind pressure intensities were applied in staad-inbuilt feature.

Derailment Load (DRL)

Tare weight of 1 car = 42 Tonne (ref Bombardier / DMRC)

40% of weight = 40%x420=168kN

Span =3m

Derailment load = 168/3=56kN/m applied as UDL

Temperature Load (WL)

Maximum Temperature (t1) = 40oc

Minimum Temperature (t2) = 10oc

Mean temperature of Concreting of floors not varies from maximum and minimum, differential
temperature is considered as 2/3(t1-t2)

Design temperature variation =2/3(40o-30o) =±20oc

Total shrinkage strain of concrete (Δl/l)= 0.0003

Page |5
Co-efficient of thermal expansion (α) = 1.17E-05 per oc

Since

Equivalent temperature for shrinkage (t) = -25.64oc

Since total shrinkage strain takes an infinite time to complete after concreting, after one year only
half of the shrinkage strain completes, so 50% of the value is considered for design for shrinkage.
i.e., -12.82oc.

Than differential temperature for design should be

T=20oc-12.82oc=7.18oc for temperature rise & shrinkage

T=-20oc-12.82oc=-32.82oc for temperature fall & shrinkage

Long Welded Rail forces (LWR)

For shorter piers (h/d<6), LWR force = 24kN/m

For maximum span of 28m, LWR force =24*18=432kN is applied on the pier as concentrated force.
