As a professional who graduated from International Relations with Emphasis in Business and
Marketing from ESPM University, I would like to apply for MBA program at BTBU
University. Through this program, I expect to develop myself into an ideal brand of
professional with a broad knowledge of global management, with a specialization in business
with China. This determination to entwine my future career to China is the result of my life,
academic and work experience during the past decade.
My first contact with Chinese culture happened when I was sixteen yearsold and spent one
month traveling around China. I remember that no place before had amazed me so much, the
magnificent constructions and the richness of the culture were the first aspects that roused my
interest about China. I strongly believe that this trip influenced me into pursuing the
International Relations major, since it was at that time that I discovered my passion for
traveling and discovering new cultures.
During my undergraduate path, the idea of deepen my knowledge about China was stimulated
for several factors. In International Relations we study how countries interact political, cultural
and economically. As a Brazilian citizen, I believe that Brazil’s relationship with other
developing countries (especially China) offers more mutual benefits than those with traditional
partners (such as the USA). As an ambitious globetrotting entrepreneur, my responsibilities go
beyond making profit for companies. Therefore I believe that by focusing my career on making
business with China, I will also be contributing for the strengthen of ties between Brazil and
one of it most positive and important partners in the international system.
On this internship I integrated the a team of four students that were responsible for the biggest
project that the company had so far: the elaboration of an internationalization plan of a
Brazilian winery called “Don Guerino” to Germany, US, UK and Russia. When the project
ended, I was personally invited by the company's president to integrate another project (since
the Junior Company aims to develop the students potential, there is a selective process for each
new project, however from time to time overachiever students from past projects are selected to
integrate new ones without having to take part on a new selection process). The second project
was a collaboration between ESPM Junior Company and the German Commerce Chamber in
Porto Alegre, with the goal of attracting german companies to Brazil. The project was a success
and set bases for the official cooperation that was settled between ESPM and the German
Chamber on the next year. For this project I received the award of Consultant of the Year at the
ESPM Annual Award for Junior Companies – 2011, the biggest award granted to junior
consultants.
Throughout my college career, I received numerous awards in academics, including the biggest
award granted by ESPM University: Best Thesis ESPM Annual Award for Academic
Excellency (2014). Is important to mention that the Best Thesis award was granted to me for
my graduation thesis, work that was written while I was an intern on a brokerage company with
a very intense work load. My last year of College was definitely the most rewarding one,
despite the fact that I was working nine hours a day and had classes at night, I granted to keep
my grades high, win the biggest award of my university and to get a job offer from the
company where I was an intern at, Expoente Brokerage company. The striving for excellency
has always been one my strongest characteristics.
To be engaged in highlevel business management has always been my professional objective.
As far as I am concerned, this challenging profession is what I am most interested in, one
which can allow me to apply my knowledge and expertise to face challenges. At the beginning
st
of the second decade of the 21 century, there is absolutely no doubt that the growth of China
has opened up many business opportunities to the people of South America, mainly in the areas
of energy, ore and agricultural products. China’s investment in Brazil on these areas has grown
and become more diverse, even when created upon foundations considered below what was
expected and announced. However, despite the progress in the ChinaBrazil relationship,
weaknesses have endured while guiding bilateral relations, thus raising thoughts in scholars and
those directly involved in such relations.
An important factor is that we lack true entrepreneurs and effective ideas of modern strategic
marketing and management. This situation calls for welltrained business administrators with
international perspectives. This way, I believe that an MBA in China will allow me to qualify
myself in order to become a firstclass executive, where the lack of wellprepared professionals
poses itself as an opportunity for me to build my brand as one of the few corporative
professionals specialized on BrazilChina relations.
My choice to only apply for BTBU came about for two main reasons. For one, BTBU MBA
program really attracts me, for it attaches great importance to group research and smallclass
education whereby students are allowed to collaborate with senior professors to undertake
various interesting projects. I believe that this highly interactive and competitive educational
model will be very appropriate for me in that it can fully draw out my potential in business
management and lay a firm foundation for me to become part of the business management elite
in Brazil. In my proposed study, I will stick to my usual way of selfdevelopment—constantly
transcending my former self in pursuit of a life of sustained personal development.
Furthermore, since ESPM just sealed a partnership with BTBU to start exchange program in
graduate level, it would be an honor for me to be the first ESPM student to start an MBA at
BTBU. Although the exchange program does not include masters students, I believe that I
could be a positive influence for the future brazilian students coming to BTBU, encouraging
them to foster their studies at BTBU and to enjoy the opportunities presented by the sino
brazilian economic relations.
In addition, I am deeply fascinated by your MBA program’s competitive and international
character. An important purpose of BTBU MBA education is to provide systematic theoretical
support for solving various business problems while equipping future enterprise administrators
with all the necessary managerial skills. In my proposed program, I will continue to focus on
marketing, with special emphasis on studying the advanced marketing strategies and concepts
of the world’s top enterprises. It is my conviction that, against the background of economic
globalization, an international education can give me far more than the mere knowledge and
skills of business administration.
Pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration at Beijing Technology and Business University
will be highly beneficial to my professional development in addition to the relationship
between China and Brazilian universities. In the future, I hope to develop my business in Brazil
and build strong relationships between Chinese and Brazilian companies. In addition to my
aspiration to study international business in China, I have spent countless hours studying
Chinese, and it is a culture and a language that I have become passionate about over the past
years of my studies. I am confident that my participation in the Master’s in Business
Administration program will benefit the University, China, and most importantly, the fellow
students who I will have the privilege to attend classes at BTBU. I am a professional with a
wellround international background, and I am prepared to take on the challenge of the rigorous
Master’s in Business Administration program at BTBU. My ambitious, selfmotivated
personality, numerous business skills, and ability to inspire others would be an asset to any
team, and especially to Beijing Technology and Business University.
