Communication Tower Design

The design of communication tower are to be based on Standards and Guidelines

for Communication Sites and Riverton City Code. Communication tower shall not

exceed more than 15 feet ( 4.572 meters) above the building or its maximum height

shall be fifty percent of the building’s total height and shall be mounted a minimum of

five feet back from the exterior wall. The communication tower is mounted on the

rooftop of the three-storey building with a total height of 3.5 meters. Self-supporting

tower or Lattice tower is used in the design of the communication tower. Lattice

tower has a high rigidity, resulting to be more stable and better able to resist wind

loading. The height of tower and growth potential should be moderate. Lattice tower

is a wireless communication support structure which consists of vertical and

horizontal supports and metal crossed strips or bars to support antennas and

connecting appurtenances. This may or may not be supported by wire guys. The

design of communication tower has an antenna which are omnidirectional antenna

and parabolic antenna. Parabolic antenna, also known as dish antenna is a

bowl-shaped device for the reception and transmission of radio frequency

communication signals in a specific directional pattern. While Omnidirectional

antenna, also known as whip antenna, is a type of antenna that transmits and receives

radio frequency signals in a 360-degree radial pattern. This kind of antenna can be up

to 20 feet in height and up to 4 inches in diameter. It has a low cost solution, good

efficiency and good radio performance. Modular approval is possible in here and it is

simple to integrate but this kind of antenna should be large at lower frequency (whip

length and ground plane) and may need manual shape fastening (especially for 315

MHz).Accessory mobile antenna device is a type of accessory wireless

communication antennas such as mobile test antennas, global positioning satellite

(GPS) equipment, or mobile radio or television antennas which are less than 12 inches

in height or width, excluding the support structure.
