Analog Multitester, VOM-COE-01, VOM-COE-02, VOM-COE-03

Measurement of DC/AC Voltage, DC Current and Resistance.

6. Method

1. Firstly, check the pointer of the VOM if it is located at the 0 mark of the scale. If exactly equal to 0

then no adjustment is necessary; else do the following:

a. Get a small flat screw driver; be sure that it fits the zero position adjuster.

b. Then slowly turn the zero position adjuster while looking at the pointer. Stop turning the zero

pointer adjuster when the pointer is exactly above the zero value of the scale (extreme left).

2. If the pointer cannot be positioned in the zero mark using the zero pointer adjuster; then the VOM

meter may be damaged.

3. To check if the battery and meter is still in good condition. Do the following;

a. First, adjust the range selector to X1 range.

b. Short the two test probes by connecting the Black and Red test pins together.

c. Turn the zero-ohm adjuster (the pointer should move during this time) until the pointer is

equal to zero ohm mark (extreme right of the meter scale).

d. If the pointer moves along the VOM scale and can be set to zero ohm; the VOM is in good

condition including the battery.

e. If in step 6 the pointer does not move along the VOM scale while adjusting the zero-ohm

adjuster then the meter may be damaged.
