Dates, Times and Rooms: Lectures and Tutorials:

Work Study & Ergonomics course starts on 16 Aug 1016. The examination period at the end of the
course is in Nov- Dec.

There is a timetable on the course website showing the times of the lectures, lab and tutorial. A
schedule of lecture topics, readings and assignment due dates is available online. Copies of the
lecture slides will be distributed at the lecture, but will also be available via the schedule page.

To work on your assignments, you may use any of the computing labs on the second floor at any
time, unless they are booked for another class. You may also use your own computer for the
assignment. (The course web site has resources to enable you to do this).

Assignments:
Following the lesson, students work at a computer on the concepts presented. Several small
assignments are used to illustrate the concepts of the lesson and expose students to different
problem solving situations. These smaller assignments prove very beneficial in establishing a
student understands and application of the subject.

There will be 5 assignments (one for the each unit). The course web site has a page listing the
assignment, dates, and resources. Each assignment will be described in a handout that will be
distributed at a lecture or in the lab, and will also be available from the website. The assignments
are a critical learning component of the course. They address most of the concepts and techniques
that are introduced in the lectures, and they are the most important way of coming to grips with the
material in the course. All the assignments should be submitted online through Moodle.

Test and exams:

A student should secure a minimum of 75% attendance in order to become eligible for the
university examinations. There will be three 90 minute internal tests, starts as per the following
schedule:

 Test 1
 Test 2
 Test 3

The time table for final examinations will be available from the University web site at some time during
the semester, and will also be posted on the notice board. The final examination will be three hours long.
All the assessment (assessments, tests and exam) will address the key learning objectives of the course –
understanding, designing, and writing programs to know what happen in the compilation phase. The
tests and exams will assess all the material covered by the course up to the time of the test/ exam. All
tests and exams from past years are available from the website to help you.

Assessment:
1. Internal assessment (20)

Internal assessment test 1 will be conducted for 50 marks (5X2 = 10 & 2X20 = 40)

Internal assessment test 2 will be conducted for 50 marks (5X2 = 10 & 2X20 = 40)

Internal assessment test 3 will be conducted for 50 marks (5X2 = 10 & 2X20 = 40)

Internal test performance is considered for assessment out of 15.

Course Attendance

Assessment out of 5 (Assessment percentage 96- 100: 5; 91-95: 4; 86-90: 3; 81-85: 2; 76-80: 1)
2. External Assessment (70)

University will conduct end semester examination for 70 marks (10X2 = 20, 3X5 = 15, & 7X5 =
