Analysis & findings on the Information Given
in IMU Reporting Data April 2017

Purpose:

The purpose of the analysis of IMU report is to provide valuable & critical information to EEF
management regarding gaps & issues for further actions & compliances.

Scope of Analysis:

Analysis & comparisons were made on very limited variables such as # & status of schools &
enrolment.

Brief analysis & findings:

Total Schools visited by IMU Staff:

IMU has visited a total of 1207 out of 1436 Girls community Schools in all 25 districts of KP. The
lowest number of schools visited by IMU was 1 in Karak. Maximum of 88 schools were visited in
Dir Lower.

Number of Schools Found Closed:

As per IMU report, it was found that in 1207, 169 schools were found closed. The highest
numbers of closed schools have been reported in Kohistan, Lakki, Bannu, Bunner & Nowshera
by 37, 25, 12 & 12 numbers respectively. As reported, there were different reasons for closing
these schools such as absenteeism of teachers & children in either case due to death of the
relatives, books not provided by EEF, resigned by a teacher, teacher on maternity & medical
leave etc etc. These reasons in many cases have been reported in report available for further
information. It may be noted here that 7 schools among these 169 were also reported closed to
EEF HO by DPOs.

Enrolment recorded in attendance Vs IMU physical attendance:

During comparisons of enrolment recorded in attendance registers with physical attendance as


recorded in IMU report, it was noticed that there is overall variance of 25% students not
available on the day of visit made by IMU staff. The variance is very high in Charsadda,
Peshawar, Swat, Mansehra & Mardan by 92%, 72%, 69%, 64% & 64% respectively. The lowest
variances have been found in Hangu, Torghar & Tank & by 10%, 13% & 18% respectively.

Conclusion:

EEF needs to address the issues related to major variances in enrolment, ensure regular visits
by DPOs & sort out applicable solutions.
