thebigword’s LQS services are designed to give clients confidence in the language quality of translated content and provide an

independent audit/ check of the quality against predefined standards. These independent services are provided as 3 party linguistic
quality assurance checks to ensure standardized quality control for translated content regardless of who provided the original
translation. Review work follows a strict quality standard, as outlined below.

Thebigword LQS standard:

Read and follow all instructions (in each section):
 Follow client-provided guidelines
 Carry out all instructions completely.

Error-free content:
 NO Spelling errors
 NO Grammar errors
 NO syntax errors
 NO mistranslations

Improve translation quality:

 Avoid unnecessary preferential changes that do not correct errors.
 Catch and correct all errors in the translation.

Standard Industry terminology

 Ensure use of standard industry terminology: terms that are the most appropriate and most credible to people in the
field.
 Apply consistent use of terminology. Definitions of terminology should be clear and accurate.

Fluid, natural-sounding translations

 Translations should read naturally in the target language.
 Content should never sound “literal” or “translated.”

Pro-Tip! Leave yourself time to QA your test. Before submitting a completed review, give yourself a break from the text and
then return to QA it with a fresh pair of eyes. Ask yourself:
 Did I utilize relevant and authoritative resources?
 Is the content error-free?
 Does the text sound fluid in the target language?
 Are my comments useful and easy to understand?
 Have I completed all sections fully as specified in the instructions?
