COURSE DESCRIPTION
Utilization of computer software applications in accounting, including the systems of general ledger,
budgeting, purchasing, selling, inventory, payroll, financial reporting and other means of reports, process
of using software applications from the designing of the chart of accounts, entering data, as well as the
construction of financial and management reports available for the needs of management for decision-
making
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The students will learn how to use the accounting software package in performing various
business transactions. This course is mainly focused on practicing the accounting application
program in the computer laboratory. The students will be given the assignment at the end of each
class for their individually working with the program. They will be able to generate the
management reports from the program. These reports will be submitted to the instructor at the
end of the course for grading.
The students should have basic knowledge needed in developing the information system in the
organization, such as, the System Development Life Cycle, players in System Development Life
Cycle and their behavioral aspect of change. They should know how the organizations buy
software, hardware and vendor services and how information systems departments develop their
owned custom software.
PREREQUISITES:
Student, who takes the ACT4647 course and does not pass its prerequisite courses, will be automatically
withdrawn from this course and would not get the refund. So, it is the student’s responsibility to check it
before enrolling this course.
REQUIREMENTS:
As this course is mainly focused on the students’ workshop of the accounting software
package program, so the 80% attendance is required for their practicing the program in the
computer laboratory and coming to the class on time is a must.
As this course is a senior-level course for the accounting major students, the students will be
advised some learning materials for their self-learning.
At the end of the course, the students will submit their reports generated from the CD
Organizer accounting software package to the instructor for grading.
