When I woke up that morning, I noticed the house was unusually quiet. I stretched
myself in bed and felt very lazy to leave my bed. I still felt sleepy because I spent the night
watching a football match between Manchester United and Chelsea until two in the morning.
I finally went downstairs and called my mother. Silence. Then I remembered! They had gone
to a friend’s wedding in Johor Bharu and would only return late in the evening. I was all alone
in the house.

In narrative writing it is advisable for students to insert

“audio” and “visual” effects as to attract the reader
towards the script. The more of these “special effects”
inserted into the piece of writing the better marks the
candidates would stand to gain.

For example :

It was twelve midnight….there was no

one at home and I could hear the clock going
tick, tock, tick, tock and the sound
of wind outside going swish, swish and
suddenly there was a loud BANG outside. That
extremely loud sound made me
jump out of my chair and I started
shivering and perspiring……
