DEPARTMENT PROFILE
The Department of Economics started right from the inception of the college in
1981 with Telugu as the medium of instruction. In the beginning the college was
located in the girl’s high school building near old Bus Stop. As accommodation
was insufficient, it was changed to present building and the college was named as
Government Degree College for women, Sangaredy. B.A in Urdu medium was

Assignment: -
Each student is asked to submit assignments on a given topic and the assignments
are evaluated and grading given.
Conducting tests is a regular practice in the department. Three unit tests are
conducted for every class in a year. Topic wise and unit wise tests are conducted at
regular intervals. Pre-final examinations fully prepare the students to face final
O.U.Exam. Award list is prepared and suggestions for improvement are given to
rectify their mistakes. Some small gifts are given to the toppers for encouragement.
Fast learners are given study projects and slow learners are exposed to remedial
coaching.
Remedial Coaching: -
After analyzing the unit test marks, the weak students are selected for remedial
coaching. Intensive coaching and dictation of important points are the main tools
of remedial coaching.
Faculty Improvement: -
The concerned lecturer tries to develop her subjects by adopting academic learning
through various techniques like attending workshops conducted by the University.
EXTENSION:-
The lecture in charge of Economics did her PhD from Osmania University
of Hyderabad. On the topic of my topic. She was also published one paper.

Research clubs of the Department consists of few students who some survey
relating to the economic educational and social background nearby villages.
Consultancy Services:-
Income Tax Consultancy:- Checking the income tax assessment forms free
of cost. Saral and form 16 is checked.
Nowadays everyone likes to invest in shares and some suggestions are given
to them.

Students are asked to bring cuttings relating to subject from local newspaper.
Two students from each class record day to day headlines and read it out in the
classroom.

There are several types of activities which are undertaken by the department.
There is only one member in the department and the lecturer consults the
