Guidelines for Contributors

Articles of 3,500-4,500 words (including footnotes and Works Cited) should be sent to
Daniela Cârstea at danielacarstea_ro@yahoo.gr

Please also include at the beginning of the article an abstract of 250-300 words and a list
of 5-7 keywords.

Early submissions are encouraged and may be given precedence for publication.

Your name and a bio of 75-100 words should be detached and included as a separate
envelope in your postage or attached as a separate electronic document to your email, in order
to preserve the anonymity of the author.

All submissions must adhere strictly to the MLA Style for editing and citing as detailed in
MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th ed., (2009). Alternatively, you may find
useful guides at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ and
http://www.docstyles.com/mlacrib.htm

Please also note the following exceptions and additional editing requirements from the Editors:

1. The body of your article is to be edited in Times New Roman 11, single spacing, justified,
first line indented 1.25 cm. Please define this as the “UBR Normal” style.

Quotations: Indent block quotations 1.7 cm, edit them in Calibri 10 (Regular), and define the
style as the “UBR Indented Quote”. Use double quotation marks for quotations in running text
(single quotation marks for a quotation within your in-text quotation) and no marks for block
quotations.

Footnotes containing marginal explanations and supplementary information may be included.

Please do not include editorial data in the footnotes; use the MLA in-text citation system only.
Use Times New Roman 9.5 (Regular) for footnotes and define the style “UBR Footnotes”.

The first footnote (to the article title) should contain information about your
institutional affiliation or place of residence.

N.B.: Use the FORMAT > STYLES AND FORMATTING menu with the MODIFY command and
the STYLE line/box in the FORMATTING Toolbar.

2. Start with the title of the article (in BLOCK CAPITALS), followed by a list of keywords
(separated by semicolon), and an abstract both in lower case. Use Italics for title, keywords, and
abstract with the exception of book titles which should be typed in Regular font.

3. We are sorry we can accept no more than 3 photos per article. They should be saved in the
.jpeg format. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any illustrated
material for which they do not hold the copyright.

4. Use the spell check, the grammar check, and make all necessary corrections before you
submit the article.
