6.C.1.2 Explain how religion transformed various societies, civilizations and regions (e.g. beliefs, practices and spread of Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism,
Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism).

The number of computers required is 1 per student.

Students will get into their groups and use their laptops to use as their main source of research.

TTW use a formative assesment by having them create as a group a trifold board on their religion. The group will present their trifold to the
Assessment/Rubrics class.
TTW use a rubric ( Rubric Attached )

IMPLEMENTATION

TTW review by asking the students "What is religion?"
Introduction to
TTW ask the students, "What religions do you know about?" This will be done as a class discussion with students raising their hands and

being called on. TTW write down on the white board the religions students say.

 TTW say, "Today we are going to be researching the 6 major religions: Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, and
Judaism."
TTW say, “ I have put each of you in one of six groups. Each group will research an assigned religion.”
TTW bring up the prezi with the list of what each group will need to find out about the religion assigned and explain what each group
should find about their religion.
When the religion was established?
Who founded it?
Do they have holidays or holy days? If so when and what are they?
Teacher Input
What is it that they believe or their major emphasis?
Do they believe in no God, one God, or many gods?
What percentage of the world identifies with this religion?
Where is this religion most popular?
Do they use scripture or holy text or books?
Do they have a head figure or idol?
What makes this religion unique?
TTW go over each question to make sure students understand what information they are looking for.

TTW put students in predetermined groups
TTW then pass out articles predetermined for each student by reading level to help each student be successful in reading and learning
about the religion and contributing to the group as well as having a reliable resource. (Examples attached)
TTW then tell the students to get at least one laptop per group and begin.
TTW say, "Each person in the group will have a passage with at least one answer to these questions so you must work cooperatively." 
TTW say, "Any information you may look up on the internet on the sites I have listed on the board." These sites will have been previewed
by the teacher.

TTW say, "The information you gather today will be used tomorrow. Later your classmates will use the information from your trifod to
gather information on the major religions."

Independent
While the groups are doing their research TTW monitor and circulate around the room to answer any individual questions.
Practice

TTW differentiate instruction for Student with ADHD, not on any medication or receiving any assistance to mediate the issue. To assist her
with orginization TTW give her a premade graphic organizer to use for her notes. (Attached)
Differentiated TTW also provide articles on each student's reading level to help ensure successful reading and comprehension.

During the last 10 minutes of the lesson TTW address the class as a whole. "Each group will decide on one interesting fact they learned
about their assigned religion to share with the class. Choose a spokesperson for your group and decide which fact you will share."
Closure
TTW give the groups a copuple of minutes to discuss this and then call on each group to share their fact.
TTW tell students that the research they did today will be used to  make a presentation in another lesson. 

Time Allotment 1 class periods.  1.25 Hrs. per class.
