Program Director There needs to be a Public Awareness Campaign to make known to the city just how much
good the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission does each and every day 365 days a year without
any financial help from the Municipality, State or Federal Government. Rescue Missions
operate very cost effectively on meager budgets, giving a helping-hand up to those in need.

Will you as a donor and supporter of this Rescue Mission be willing to spread the word to

perhaps then, people will know what we do and would be anxious to get on

This Message is for anyone that reads this newsletter
or their loved ones who may not be a Christian.
Four Things God Wants You To Know!

#1—God Loves You. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16. This is the ultimate expression of God’s love. He came
to seek and save that which was lost.

#2—Man is Sinful and This Separates Him From God. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”
. . . Romans 3:23. Man was created to love God and fellowship with Him. But, man went his own way and chose
sin—then fellowship with God was broken. “The wages of sin is death”…Romans 6:23a. If a person continues in
their sin they will be eternally separated from God.

#3—Jesus Christ is God’s Only Provision For Sin…God commended His love toward us, in that while we were
yet sinners Christ died for us…Romans 5:8. The gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans
6:23b.

#4—Faith and Confession Are All That is Required. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. Romans 10:10.

NOW, if you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, would you just now, bow your head and pray this
simple prayer. “Lord, I am a sinner and I want to be saved, I repent of my sins and I accept you into my heart as my
Lord and Savior”.

If you believe with all of your heart, you are now a Christian, you have been saved, you have been born again,
however you want to express your experience. For Romans 10:13 tells us that “whosoever shall call on the name of
the Lord shall be saved”. Will you now take just a moment and thank Him for saving you. Find a Bible believing
local church or fellowship and begin attending regularly so that you may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord
Jesus Christ.

God had the vision of having a perfect world. Lucifer
threw the perfect world that God wanted into chaos.
To make everything right again God gave certain men,
the prophets of the Bible, prophetic dreams or visions,
so they could convince men to make right of the
things that they had made wrong because of Lucifer.
Traditionally, Christians have understood the Devil to
be the author of lies and promoter of evil; however, he
can go no further than the word of God allows. The
family tree of Jesus, the sinless God-man, was far
from perfect. Judah fathered Perez with his daughter-
in-law Tamar, thinking she was a prostitute (Genesis
38); Salmon married Rahab, a former prostitute in
Jericho (Joshua 6); and David had an adulterous affair
with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba (Samuel 11). Throughout
history God has used imperfect people to work His will.
He is more concerned about the attitude of their heart
than about the mistakes they made. God is never fooled
or discouraged by people’s past mistakes. This gives
everyone here at the mission hope that God can give us
a productive future no matter how destructive our past
has been. We know now that if we want a new start, we
must admit our sins and commit our lives to God.
To get a ministry off the ground it takes one person with
a vision. The devil’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy
any hopes and dreams that we may have of living in
a world that God intended. A world of peace and joy;
a world without war; a world where everyone would
love one another as they love themselves and most
important to love and worship only Him, God the
Father, our Creator. Without hope we are miserable;
hope is the driving force behind all recovery. If we
had no hope, there would be no possibility of recovery.

Understanding who Jesus is gives each of us a hope that
can transcend even the deepest despair.
The “NewLife” recovery program is designed to give
its disciples the discipline they need to carry on the
work that God wants all of us to do. Jesus wants us to
be His representatives to the world. We should never
lose our identity with our LORD and Savior, Jesus
Christ. As Christians, we should always want to make a
positive impact on the people that we meet. We should
all thank Jesus 24/7 for showing us how to be strong
in a troubled world. At the Anchorage Gospel Rescue
Mission, we not only take in people that are addicted to
alcohol and drugs, but we also minister to the people
who want to change their lives for a better way of life;
people who want to get closer to God; people who
want to learn more about the Bible. God is aware of
all of the temptation around us, but He says that if
we remain faithful, we will be rewarded. As disciples
of Jesus Christ, here at this mission, it is our duty to
show compassion to everyone who comes through
these doors. We have a member here who is always
ministering to the homeless. He might be “Holier than
thou” when he speaks, but you know that his heart is in
the right place, and this is what God wants from each
and every person that is a Christian. Everyone here at
the mission does their job perfectly and they show great
concern about their job and their status in the program.
The “NewLife” program has taught each one of us the
true meaning of the Word of God and what He expects
of each one of us.
Three of the main elements of a Christian’s character
are hope, faith and love. “Hope is an essential and
fundamental element of the Christian life, so essential
indeed that, like faith and love, it can itself designate
the essence of Christianity”. In 1 Peter 3:15, it is stated
that if someone asks about your Christian hope, always
be ready to explain. In Hebrew 10: 23, the Bible says
this: “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope
we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise”.
Have a Vision?”
The “NewLife” recovery program is not only a two year
contract, but it is also a lifelong commitment to God.
Not everyone that enrolls in this program completes it.
They quit for various reasons. That’s because they let
Satan get into their minds thinking that they can survive
on their on or that they know it all now. They act just
like the people of Israel, forgetting where they came
from. The Bible teaches us to learn from our ancestors’
mistakes. That is why we should read the Bible daily,
so that we will always remember where we came from;
for if we don’t, we’ll be, “Slipping into Darkness”. That
was a famous song back in the day, by Earth Wind and
Fire, warning the youth about drugs.
This is why we need to always keep focusing on God,
for He is our Creator and He knows what’s best for our
safety. Ephesians 1:18 says: “I hope that your hearts
will be flooded with light so that you can understand the
confident hope He has given to those He called – His
holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance”.
Jesus is the Light for us to follow. Unbelievers are
without this hope. They still turn to the bottle or pipe
for their satisfaction in life and this is just what the devil
wants. The devil is on his job 24/7, trying to get as many
followers as possible. You don’t have to be addicted
to just alcohol and drugs to be a follower of Satan.
Manipulating other people to do wrong is evil; greed;
jealously; love of money; letting too much power over
your fellow man go to your head. In other words, if you
aren’t following the golden rules that God has instituted
for us to live by, “then you’re on Satan’s team”. The
devil loves nothing more than to cause confusion in our
lives. And disasters in our lives are even more painful
when they are the consequence of our own behavior.
Disasters are God’s way of getting our attention. Moses
had warned that disobedience to God’s plan would lead
to certain catastrophes (Deuteronomy 28: 38-39). God
sought to restore His people to a healthy relationship
with Him by showing them how helpless they really
were and how much they needed Him. Just as they
needed God then, we need Him now. Philippians 1:
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
28 tell us not to be frightened for a moment. This is
proof to our adversaries that their plan for our failure
has failed. As long as we stay in the realm of peace we
are safe. The devil can take his best shot and it won’t
faze us. Just like Job, we shouldn’t listen to others, no
matter what. Do not for a moment be fearful, for that
one moment is all the time the devil need to get into
your mind. No matter how bad things are, if we trust
God, He will come through for us. We will then have
one more victory story to share with others. No matter
how deeply we have failed or how many times we have
fallen, God can still use us to save the lives of others
just like us. There is always a reason to live.
As Christians we need to be Kingdom builders. When
the walls of our defense fall down from around us, we
need to rebuild this just as Nehemiah did; that’s what this
mission is for, to help us rebuild our walls against the
attack of Satan and his demons. A secure environment
is helpful for any rebuilding project. When we lack
physical safety and emotional stability… it is difficult
to concentrate on the job at hand. The love of Jesus
compels us to do good work. People want to be shown
the love of God. How many lives can we change if we
keep our walls up and keep our boundaries strong? My
vision is to try and convert others to Christianity for a
better world.

Well it has been one of those weeks! You’re familiar with the kind I’m referring to, those that start off smoothly
and progress at a steady pace. You know the kind that sets you up into believing “all is well” and just when you are
most relaxed; “BAM” life punches you right in the nose! Of course at first you’re stunned and don’t really know
how to react. Confusion and disbelief fight for control of your emotions. Anger has a way of bringing up the rear and
cleaning the mess up but it invariably leaves you empty and unsatisfied.

I suppose by now you must be curious as to what sort catastrophe could have happened to me that would cause such
a dramatic state. The thing is it didn’t actually happen to me although I’m reacting as though it did. Am I the only
one who does this? Take things personal when they have nothing at all to do with me. Does this mean I think more
highly of myself or does it mean I care too much? This constant battle with self is exhausting yet I know in my heart
God’s purpose mandates I go through it so I can be ready for whatever task he has for me to do. He never sends us
into battle without first giving us the training and support we need to win.

Most things, for me, boils down to an issue of trust. I believe in God and am blest beyond measure to have the
opportunity to work in an environment that allows me to seek Him daily. I have the privilege of speaking His name
openly without fear of offending my coworker or violating some foolish rule where I have not given equal time to
Buddha or Allah. This glorious gift does not escape me. Given all of this why is trust such a hard state to achieve? I
must confess there are times when I get aggravated when I hear someone say “trust God for the answer” as though it
were that simple. Sometimes I don’t know what that looks like much less am I able to just do it. If it where only that
easy what a wonderful world it would be.

Perhaps I’m missing something here that I don’t quite understand. Suppose hope is what I need to strive for. If hope
turns out to be a foundation for trust it makes perfect sense to develop a hopeful personality. In Jeremiah 29:11 God
tells us His plans are designed to give us all future hope.

I chose to hope for a better tomorrow despite the setbacks of today because hope confirmed gives birth to trust.

The Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission is a Non-Profit, Non-Denominational
Anchorage Gospel organization. We receive NO municipal, state or federal funds. We are not a United Way
Agency. Your financial support and In-Kind donations makes it possible for us to provide
Rescue Mission for the poor, needy and homeless people in our community. Also, your donations allow
Board of Trustees us to provide a Discipleship Training program. All Donations are fully tax deductible. We
