When planning a training session, it is important that the trainer must review the currency of the curriculum conforming the Competency Standards in the Training Regulations. Then know and determine your trainees. Identify their characteristics and current skills and knowledge by utilizing Data gathering instrument which include questionnaires that will determine their learning characteristics and styles and Training Needs Assessment Tools to identify their training needs, learning outcomes and the method of training including the time and resources that suits with the learners. And with the information collected from the data gathering tools, the trainer can now develop a session plan based on the training needs in accordance with the competency based curriculum and or from the TR. In developing a session plan, the design must comparable to the standards indicating the qualification and the sector where it belong. The module title which is derived from the unit of competency shall be identified wherein the learning outcomes that are expected from the trainees are determined. Part also is the introduction of the module coverage for that particular unit of competency and the required attitude, skills and knowledge to complete the requirements. But the most essential to the session plan is how the learning activities were facilitated and executed. The contents and learning approach must conform to the attainment of the required standards of the unit of competency. Then the assessment plan shall be congruent with these learning activities to effectively measure the acquired knowledge and skills. Time and resources must be considered for the success and completion of the training. In CBT, the learning starts from simple to complex. This is why after presentation of each learning content must be followed with practice and feedback to gain mastery with the knowledge and skills. To determine evidence of acquired knowledge and skills, trainees are assessed of their performance through written test, oral questioning and practical demonstration. These methods of gathering evidences is efficient in measuring underpinning skills and knowledge. Assessment tools that shall be used for evaluation must conform to the dimensions of competencies as stated in the training regulations. A prepared table of specifications for the written test will determine the required knowledge achieved is within the coverage of the training module. Another consideration for the session plan is the adult learning principles. Some adults are task-centered in their orientation to learning. You need to lead them to discover the solution on their issues and not tell them what to do. Adults must want to learn and generally have a concept of being responsible of their own decisions. Communicate the learning objectives to them and show how they will benefit from the training. FLS Before starting the session, I prepared the venue with the appropriate CBT components such as the Practica Work Area/Institutional Assessment Area, Contextual Learning Area, Trainer’s Resource Center, Quality Control Area, and Support Service Area. In the practical work area, I also prepare the working stations representing the 4 units of competency. I also prepare the tools, materials and equipment. I posted the training activity matrix to monitor the trainee’s activities, achievement chart to record their activities and progress chart to record completed learning outcomes. I also prepare the pre-assessment forms. Before the orientation starts, I collected the trainee’s admission slips and let them sign the attendance sheet to validate their identity, I ask their IDs. Before I administer the pre-assessment, I orient them first of the purpose of VAK is to know their profile and characteristics and TNA to know their learning styles, then data gathering instrument to know their prior learning (RPL) and training gaps. After that, I proceed to orientation. I discuss the 10 principles and CBT flow. I enumerated the core competencies and explain the assessment methods I use to gather evidence, I provided feedback on the result of pre-assessement and diseeminate them based on their learning styles.Proceed to training proper. I provided them with the necessary tools and materials such as the information sheets, video presentations and job sheet. After the activities, I provided them with the appropriate feedback through constructive feedback and record their performance in the achievement chart. Since the trainees are adutls, I consider the adult learning styles pronciples which is goal oriented which means that they may set goals to achieve it. During institutional assessment, I orient them just that based on the evidence plan, the evidences will be gather thourgh the rules of evidence and 4 dimensions of competency. The assessment methods that I use are the written exam to measure the required knowledge, demonstration to measure the required knowledge and skill. After the demonstration I provide appropriate feedback and recorded their performance in progress chart. After the session, I gave them evaluation forms to evaluate the facilities, tools, materials, equipment, and training delivery for the purpose of improvement or for adjustment of the session plan. MTF To protect and extend the useful life of the training facilities, tools, materials and equipment that are being utilized during he training like the bottle sterilizer, electric kettle and air pot, vacuum cleaners, washing machine, nebulizer, 5 electric irons, gas stove, air conditioner and exhaust fan, I have prepred a maintenance plan schedule for our workshop equipment. I implemented the housekeeping activities schedule to maintain availability of our workshop and the equipment maintenance schedule to maintain the readiness and functionality of our equipment. These maintenance programs were implemented to increase occupational health and safety of our training environment using an inspection checklist. I always ensure that the equipment are readily available that’s why every equipment that were found not functioning or defective shall need to be reported to the maintenance section for appropriate action. Then a tag-out card shall be posted to the identified defective equipment to avoid untoward incident that this may cause. And if an equipment of machine needs to be replaced, a purchase order shall be made to suffie the requirement of the training program. When an equipment is subjected for disposal, a salvage report shall be prepared to enable to re-use the reusable parts. An equipment record is prepared and updated to monitor the readiness and availability when a breakdown is reported or new purchases made. To help protect our environment, I had prepared a waste management system which includes waste segregation of recyclable materials, biodegradeable, the non-biodegradable and hazardous waste. The system also identified the waste disposal which includes the date and time of disposal and its accredited transporter. SWBL
Supervise Work-Based Learning
After identifying the learners’ training need, an industry partner that shall compliment the requirement must be identified. Site visit shall be necessary to ensure that the training venue could comply with the training plan which is in accordance with the learners’ training need. Once the prospected industry partner agrees with the training plan, a memorandum of agreement shall be prepared and must be signed by both parties. Before sending the learners to the industry, they must be oriented with the training plan that will serve them as guide through the duration of their training. The company rules and policies must be introduced including the occupational health and safety requirement in the industry to avoid untoward incident to happen that may cause harm or damage to property. A regular visit shall be conducted to monitor the progress of the trainees including coordination with the industry partner of the status of the training program. Monitoring tools such as Trainees Progress Sheet to monitor their completed activities and Trainees Record Book to monitor the status of their completed learning outcomes and competencies shall be prepared and must be updated regularly. This will enable me to provide them feedback to enforce their learning. An immediate feedback given to the learners can improve their performance with their activities. In any event that a negative or unfavourable remark shall be reported by the industry partner, a written report on the incident shall be ask before conducting an investigation. The trainee receiving the negative feedback and the industry supervisor/partner shall be notified for a meeting to mitigate or advise corrective actions to avoid re-occurrence of the same. At the end of the program, an evaluation tools shall be accomplished by the trainees to identify areas for improvement or adjustment with the training program/plan. CCA Prior to the conduct of competency assessment, I will coordinate with the AC Manager to check the availability of the assessmemnt. I will conduct site inspection and check in the tools, materials and equipment including the assessment tools are ready, available and adequate for the duration of the assessment. I will ensure that the venue is conducive and safe during the assessment to avoid unnuccesary incidents. Before conduction an orientation, I will collect their admission slips and let them sign the attendance sheet. To validate their identties I will ask a valid id. To prepare the candidates for their assessment and to make them relax, I will conduct an orientation to inform them on the assessment flow and the competencies to be assessed. During orientation, I will explain the purpose of assessment. Along with that, I will use to gather evidence. To ensure fairness during the assessment, I will establish allowable and reasonable adjustments like the language, they prefer to use their culture and religion, their health and if they are having physical disability, and to suffice their personal necessities. If they don’t conforms to their assessment results, I will inform them that they have the right to appeal. I will also inform them that assessment results shall be confidential to protect their integrity. For their re-assessment procedure, they have onle 3 3 chances to take assessment. If they fail again, I will advice them to take a refresher course before undergoing another assessment. After the orientation, I will allow the candidates to read and understand the specific instruction and ask for clarifications. Their performance will be recorded in the rating sheet and I will remind them of the OHS. I will not ask questions and interrupt the trainees during their demonstration to avoid distraction. During the oral questioning (sandwich method) I will not provide the correct answer to the candidates if the assessment is till going on because it may pre-emp the answer to the next questions. After the oral questioning, I will give appropriate feedback through constructive feedback to the candidate then I will let them sign the rating sheets and the competenct assessment results summary based on the evidence I gathered through the rules of evidence, and four dimensions of competencies. I will declare them as competent or not yet competent. I will give advice to the not yet competent to practice more. To improve the performance in case the candidate does not agree with the decision, I will him make a complaint letter addressed to the Tesda Proviincial Director.
