Management of the Senior High School

Students of Malalinta National High

School.
Background of the Study

The environment in which we live is very important and it directly affects our lives.

Environmental problem is a global concern. It has no boundary. Around the world, efforts are

being made to make people aware about environmental degradation because of improper

management in the disposal of solid waste. It is a major cause of pollution and outbreak of

diseases in many parts of the world. We can reduce and control waste generation by proper

awareness. Waste management is a science that addresses the logistics, environmental impact,

social responsibility and cost of an organization waste disposal. In a Third World country like

Philippines, most of the people never cared about their trash. Others don’t throw in proper trash

bins, others just drop the waste on the street and they contribute to garbage problems in the

Philippines.

Due to the different effects of improper waste management the Philippine government

created Republic Act 9003 also known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

The school as an important part of the community and the students play an important role

in solving solid waste management and they must be aware of the current issues we are facing in

waste management. Therefore, the school as part of the community must emphasize, the

importance of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Hence, this study will be

conducted to know how far the school students are aware and practicing proper waste
