    Solutions

    EXERCISE 8.1

    From Exercise 8.3: HR and Stress-Hybrid principles coalesce if the assumed axial force satisfies a priori the
    equilibrium equations. This is easier if the body force vanishes, in which case a constant axial force will do.

    EXERCISE 8.2

    From Exercise 8.3: HR and Stress-Hybrid principles coalesce if the assumed bending moment satisfies a priori
    the equilibrium equations. This is easier if the lateral force vanishes, in which case a linear bending moment
    will do.

    EXERCISE 8.3

    The statement of the Exercise essentially gives all the steps away so there is little point in repeating it.13
