GROWING
DEEPLY a daily scripture guide
Sunday
Week of February 5-10 SERMON
MONDAY: Galatians 5:13-14 Free to Be
Being a child of God offers us freedom from many things, not the least of which “Overlooked: The Relationships that Busy People Miss” -
is freedom from societal expectations. February 4
REFLECTION: Reflect on the difference between trying to assimilate into Scripture: Galatians 5:13-14 (NLT)
society and being a meaningful part of the society in which we live.
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters.
TUESDAY: Galatians 5:13-14 Relationships But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use

CONSIDER: Consider your relationships with family and friends. Can you

open is your communication?

WEDNESDAY: Galatians 5:13-14 Temptation Towards Selfishness My Notes:

Our human nature is to strive toward personal success and provide for ourselves
and our families first. These things are important; but when that striving and
provision creates difficulties for others, we are not living up to God’s purposes.
PRAYER: Help us, oh God, to be aware of our selfish natures and find the
strength and generosity needed to share our resources with others.

THURSDAY: Galatians 5:13-14 Striving for Service

Galatians reminds us to “use your freedom to serve one another in love.” When
we find ourselves in a position of influence or opportunity, we should watch for
ways to open the pathways toward personal service.
REFLECTION: Reflect on your life. Can you find ways that you can serve others?

FRIDAY: Galatians 5:13-14 Quality vs. Quantity

When we consider ways to serve or to give, our tendency is to search for
quantity: large gifts of money; personal sacrifices of time and talent;
measurable sharing. However, often the small gifts are the most meaningful.
CONSIDER: Consider what it is that you consider a meaningful gift. Is it
measurable by amount, or is it measurable by meaning?

SATURDAY: Galatians 5:13-14 The Salient Point

To love our neighbors as ourselves is the center of all of God’s message. To treat
others as we wish to be treated is the summary point of all of God’s law.
PRAYER: Dear God, when we search for ways to love, help us to love with our
whole hearts. When we search for ways to give, help us to give with our entire
