Teaching- Learning Process

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:44 Corazon: To Deonisiana Rulloda: it's ok Madam . We are all
entitled to learn new things , to innovate and be more creative.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:44 Corazon: As the instructional leader in your school, you play an
important role in directing it toward achieving its educational goals. You are, therefore, expected to
constantly provide guidance to your teachers to help them deliver quality education to their students.
But how is quality education achieved?
Picture of Deonisiana Rulloda 14:45 Deonisiana: Lesson 1 is all about understanding the facilitative
teaching-learning process.

Picture of Dorcas Consuelo Revaula 14:45: Dorcas Consuelo Revaula has just entered this chat

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:45 Corazon: I know you are doing this , guiding teachers all the way ,
but in this case , you'll be learning new approches, new strategies .

Picture of Rony Rio 14:46: Rony Rio has left this chat

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:46 Corazon: Quality education is achieved primarily through the
effective facilitation of the teaching-learning process. The teaching-learning process is the heart and soul
of schools. It forms the core of the “business of education.” Therefore, this important activity must be
done well if schools are to be described as successful in achieving their goals. Students go to school not
simply to absorb information. They also have to be trained on what to do with such information and
how to apply what they learn to real-life situations.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:46 Corazon: However, before teachers can be expected to facilitate
the teaching-learning process well, you first need to help them reflect on their beliefs and attitudes
about teaching and facilitation of learning. Why did they become teachers in the first place? What kind
of teachers are they striving to become? What beliefs about students and learning do they hold as
important pillars in providing instruction? Knowing their basic attitudes, beliefs, and practices will give
you a good opportunity to examine why they encounter certain problems in the facilitation process. This
is just like going back to their teaching foundations or philosophies. Are you familiar with your teachers’
teaching philosophies? Whether you are familiar with the development of a teaching philosophy or you
simply need to refresh your memory, this lesson is a good place for you to start.

Picture of Eremias Andoy 14:46 Eremias: The quality of education may be achieved if teaching
philosophy be honestly followed.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:47 Corazon: Stary by reading the article :TEACHER A & TEACHER B

Picture of Rony Rio 14:47: Rony Rio has just entered this chat

Picture of Dorcas Consuelo Revaula 14:47 Dorcas Consuelo: As an administrator we must know very
well the charcteriostics of our learners, their strengths and their weaknesses

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:48 Corazon: Be guided with the following questions :In whose class
would you rather belong — Mr. Kamulwat’s or Mrs. Prinsakorn’s? Why? Who provides students more
opportunities to really think and process rather than just absorb information? How are their teaching
approaches different? Who would you prefer to be a teacher in your school? Why? Why are the two
teachers’ teaching beliefs and attitudes different? Why is it important to examine a teacher’s beliefs and
attitudes?
Picture of Constantino Jr. Rodolfo 14:48 Constantino Jr.: Quality education may achieved if we
effectively facilitate the Teaching-Learning process.

Picture of Jose Sature 14:48 Jose: quality education achieved when our learners applied what they've
learned in school.sometimes it can be measured through rating obtained in NAT,

Picture of Rony Rio 14:50 Rony: I agree that good teaching involves a process of facilitating learning .
A facilitative teacher effectively implement appropriate instructional strategies that would allow
students to have more activities and interactive approaches.

Picture of Rony Rio 14:51: Rony Rio has left this chat

Picture of Felisa Senamban 14:51 Felisa: Mr. Kamulwat,t..students has individual differences...
through groupings, activities, we will discover thier skills and talents... lecture method is good but not
for the whole period... students should move

Picture of Teddy Salcedo 14:52 Teddy: i would chose teacher A since it gives the opportunity to
learners to discover essential things.

Picture of Deonisiana Rulloda 14:52 Deonisiana: Quality education is achieved through continuing
education, trainings and learning of both school head and teachers. It requires reflections of a teachers'
beliefs regarding how students must learn and how his /her preference n the methods to use which
he/she thinks effective the different types of learners.

changing world in education.
Picture of Eremias Andoy 14:54 Eremias: Both scenarios are good but I prefer to belong scenario A
even b is also a teaching styles when I was in grade to college and I am now a teacher. But, in a modern
way of teaching we need learners to learn by experience so we need to give learners lots of activities so
that they learn much while doing.

Picture of Jose Sature 14:54 Jose: students with individual differences needs different task

Picture of Rony Rio 14:55: Rony Rio has just entered this chat

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:56 Corazon: To Eremias Andoy: But we have to give directions to
what we are teaching . If I may just remind that teachers set the lesson /daily log... the objectives of the
lesson ...? right ?

Picture of Rony Rio 14:56: Rony Rio has left this chat

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:56 Corazon: The previous activity shows you that teachers teach
differently using different techniques and approaches because they have different teaching philosophies.
A teaching philosophy describes teachers’ beliefs about how learning occurs, how they can intervene in
this process, what chief goals they have for students, and what actions they should take to implement
their intentions for students.

Picture of Rony Rio 14:56: Rony Rio has just entered this chat

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:57 Corazon: Teachers’ beliefs and attitudes are different from one
another’s because they are unique individuals who have different experiences. These experiences,
whether acquired from their training as teachers or when they were still students, form the foundation
of their teaching attitudes and activities. For a school head like you, helping teachers examine and
reflect on their beliefs and attitudes about teaching-learning is an important step toward making them
more effective providers of instruction.

Picture of Teddy Salcedo 14:57 Teddy: Teacher A and Teacher B's approaches are different in the
sense that Teacher B teaches her pupils in a traditional way while Teacher A teaches his pupils by
acknowledging their own unique abilities and as a teacher he/she provides opportunities to his pupils to
learn and practice their skills it is not only the pupils learn from him but he learns from the pupils

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:57 Corazon: To Teddy Salcedo: Certainly right Sir !

Picture of Jose Sature 14:58 Jose: learning by doing is more effective strategy rather than
spoonfeeding. as what i know teacher as facilitator will just facilitate the activity . more talks and
discussions are coming from student

Picture of Constantino Jr. Rodolfo 14:58 Constantino Jr.: As for me,I would chose teacher A
because the teacher consider the individual differences of his learners. He respects their opinions and
believes that their are many things he can learn from the learners.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:58 Corazon: Can you state ---What Is a Teaching Philosophy?
Picture of Jose Sature 14:59 Jose: two-way or three-way communication must always be reinforced
during the teaching learning process

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:59 Corazon: Much better if it is your own teaching philosophy.

Picture of Rony Rio 14:59: Rony Rio has left this chat

Picture of Deonisiana Rulloda 14:59 Deonisiana: on the two scenarios, it is on Teacher A that
facilitative teaching is employed. From his beliefs , he was able to encourage students to be active
participants in the teaching-learning process and not just passive recipients of knowledge and
information; thus the learners potentials will be developed

Picture of Corazon Morilla 14:59 Corazon: . A teaching philosophy is a set of beliefs that a teacher
values as well as uses as a guide in instructional activities. It encompasses the teacher’s beliefs about
students, learning, teaching, and his/her role as an educator.

Picture of Teddy Salcedo 15:00 Teddy: Teaching Philosophy is a set of beliefs that a teacher
values as well as uses as a guide in instructional activities

Picture of Felisa Senamban 15:00 Felisa: set of beliefs that a teacher values as well as uses as a
guide in instructional activities.

Picture of Dorcas Consuelo Revaula 15:00 Dorcas Consuelo: Teacher A is a 21st century teacher
because he appreciates the answers and opinions of his students. He considers the individual
differences. As a teacher we must consider the multiple intelligences.

Picture of Gerly Senas 15:00 Gerly: In the 21st century teacher to be effective I will chose teacher A
that provide students to improve their skills through exploratory methods rather than teacher B that
more on lecture methods which student's board in lestining.

Picture of Felisa Senamban 15:01 Felisa: teachers beliefs about students, learning, teaching, and
his/her role as an educator

Picture of Jose Sature 15:01 Jose: for me, my teaching philosophy is no students will go out the

Picture of Constantino Jr. Rodolfo 15:01 Constantino Jr.: Teaching philosophy can promote and
provide an opportunity for reflection and professional development in teaching.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 15:01 Corazon: I would appreciate if you would state your teaching
philosophy .

Picture of Dorcas Consuelo Revaula 15:02 Dorcas Consuelo: In our age, there are still traditional
teachers. They do the lecture methos and hardly do other strategies inorder that their students lean a
lot from them.
Picture of Eremias Andoy 15:03 Eremias: Teaching philosophy is a self-reflective statement of your
beliefs about teaching and learning.

Picture of Dorcas Consuelo Revaula 15:03 Dorcas Consuelo: My teahing philosophy includes both
what was taught and how it was taught in the class.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 15:03 Corazon: To Dorcas Consuelo Revaula: It is therefore the role of
the school head to give teachers new direction using different appropriate approaches .

Picture of Teddy Salcedo 15:04 Teddy: For me teaching philosophy implies the ideas and
knowledge of a teach in a certain lesson she/he tries to deliver

Picture of Dorcas Consuelo Revaula 15:04 Dorcas Consuelo: Yes Mam, it is done through our dailiy
Instructional supervision, and doing the mentoring

Picture of Teddy Salcedo 15:04 Teddy: teacher po

Picture of Corazon Morilla 15:05 Corazon: For you my dear FLs -for you to state your teaching
philosophy ------ INPUT #1 Purposes A teacher’s statement of teaching philosophy does several things. It
can: 1) Clarify what the teacher believes good teaching to be. 2) Explain what the teacher hopes
to achieve in teaching. 3) Contextualize his/her teaching strategies and other evidence of teaching
effectiveness. 4.Promote and provide an opportunity for reflection and professional development in
teaching. 5.Provide a means for others to learn from the teacher’s experiences.

Picture of Felisa Senamban 15:05 Felisa: teaching philosophy includes my purpose in life to share
my knowledge through teaching

Picture of Corazon Morilla 15:05 Corazon: INPUT #2 Components A statement of teaching

philosophy is composed of the following components: The teacher’s definition of good teaching, with an
explanation of this particular definition. A discussion of teaching methods: how does the teacher
implement his/her definition of good teaching? A discussion of evaluation and assessment methods
used and a description of how they support the teacher’s definition of good teaching. The teacher’s
description of his/her students, and their most important learning goals and challenges. The teacher’s
description of his/her teaching goals: with what content, skills, or values should students leave his/her
classroom. What are the teacher’s goals for improving his/her teaching?

Picture of Constantino Jr. Rodolfo 15:05 Constantino Jr.: Teaching philosophy is an idea that helps
teacher define good teaching.

Picture of Corazon Morilla 15:06 Corazon: INPUT #3By the way , There are tips on How to Write a
Statement of Teaching Philosophy(Activity 1.3) Write your own statement of teaching philosophy by
following the format below and the 10 steps to completion suggested by Pratt & Collins (2001). Format
• Your statement of teaching philosophy should be as concise as possible: 1-2 pages single spaced
(the document may be slightly longer if it includes information on specific teaching strategies). • Include
generous white spaces between paragraphs to allow for ease of reading and to provide space for
comments. • Write in a personal, relatively informal tone, usually in the first person. Sometimes,
mentioning the names of scholars who have been particularly influential to your teaching can be
valuable.

Picture of Rony Rio 15:06: Rony Rio has just entered this chat

Picture of Corazon Morilla 15:07 Corazon: INPUT #4---10 Steps to Completion 1. Identify one or
two of your most effective teaching methods. Why are these methods effective? 2. Jot down what
you know about your students and how they learn. 3. . Review some of your teaching materials
(lesson plans, assignments). What are their strengths? How would you improve them? 4.Consider some
of the issues that shape your teaching: What do you hope will be the result of your teaching? What
school factors affect the way you teach? What were some critical moments or experiences for you as a
teacher? How do you know that a teaching activity or a course has been successful? Consider how these
issues are connected. 5. Do your teaching materials reflect your understanding of your students and
their needs? Do you derive your teaching goals from a positive or negative experience with particular
teaching activities? 6. Using these notes and reflections, write a draft of your philosophy statement in
narrative form. 7. What evidence do you have of your teaching effectiveness (teaching materials,
feedback from students and colleagues)? Does this evidence reflect what you have identified as your
strengths and priorities as a teacher? 8. Re-write the philosophy statement, taking into account your
evidence of teaching effectiveness. 9. Have someone else read the statement. 10. Re-write the
philosophy statement a second time, incorporating feedback from others.
