Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. State the importance of preparing a work plan
2. Identify the tools and equipment used in EIM and their uses
3. Maintain tools and equipment through proper cleaning and storage.
Introduction
A work plan is an outline of a set of goals and processes by which a
team and/or person can accomplish those goals, and offering the reader a
better understanding of the scope of the project. Work plans, whether used
in professional or academic life, help you stay organized while working on
projects. Through work plans, you break down a process into small,
achievable tasks and identify the things you want to accomplish. Learn how
to write a work plan so that you can be prepared for upcoming projects.
Planning for work in EIM includes the preparation of the materials in order
to carry out the maintenance of plant and equipment. Checking the quality
and quantity of the selected materials is required to determine how the
materials should be prepared and report on completion. Follow the
organization’s safe working practices at all times and working within the
work permit procedures.
Utility box - is a
circuit box responsible for holding
fuses to ensure that the electric grid
doesn't overload and fry
Male plug
A male connector is a connector
attached to a wire, cable, or piece of
hardware, having one or more
exposed, unshielded electrical
terminal s, and constructed in such
a way that it can be inserted snugly
into a receptacle ( female
connector ) to ensure a reliable
physical and electrical connection
PVC conduit
polyvinyl chloride; a synthetic ther
moplastic material made by polymer
izingvinyl chloride. The properties d

rms are used in hosepipes,
insulation, shoes, garments, etc.
Hacksaw
A hacksaw is a fine-toothed saw,
originally and principally made
for cutting metal. They can also
cut various other materials, such
as plastic and wood; for example,
plumbers and electricians often
cut plastic pipe and plastic
conduit with them. There are
hand saw versions and powered
versions (power hacksaws).
Diagonal cutting pliers
(or wire cutters or diagonal
cutting pliers or diagonal
cutters) are pliers intended for
the cutting of wire (they are
generally not used to grab or
turn anything). The plane
defined by the cutting edges of
the jaws intersects the joint rivet
at an angle or "on a diagonal",
hence the name.
Half-round file
The special plier’s feather one
side which is a flat nose jaw and
the other side as a round nose
jaw. Often-used in jewelry
making for making loops, bends
and for gripping. These have
become popular specialty pliers.
.
Do not use any liquid cleaners, including spray cleaners, unless specified
by the equipment manufacturer, because of the risk of residues causing
damage, interfering with electrical or mechanical functions, or
compromising the integrity of insulation surfaces.
Allow sufficient time for drying after cleaning equipment with a liquid
solvent or water!
Observe all material data sheets prior to using chemical cleaners. Wear the
required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as goggles, gloves,
aprons, and respirators when working with potentially hazardous solvents.
Vacuum Cleaning
Loose dust, dirt, and particles can be removed using a vacuum-type cleaner
with non-metallic attachments and hoses.
When mopping, keep the mop bucket as far as practical from the switchgear
to prevent damage from spillage.
Use care when working with compressed air to avoid contaminants from
become airborne, which can contaminate insulation surfaces, cause injury
to personnel, or affect the mechanical operation of nearby equipment.
Safe work practices can reduce the numbers of injuries on the job while
lowering liability-related costs. Before instituting a safety program, evaluate
current procedures and protocols to determine which are effective and which
need improvement. It’s important to take the time to plan a comprehensive
program that thoroughly addresses current and potential safety risks.
Safety First
Write a safe work practices plan after the hazard assessment is competed. It
should include specific information for each department or job function.
Safety for an office position might include keeping aisles and walkways free
of boxes, using glare-free computer monitors and opening one file cabinet
drawer at a time to prevent tipping. Manufacturing positions might follow
policies including wearing protective gear, storing chemicals in labeled
containers, using safety guards on machinery and promptly reporting
hazards to supervisors.
Spread the Word
Let employees know about the new safe work practices plan. Give each a
copy of the section covering his job or work area. Post copies of the plan in
areas where employees congregate, such as break rooms or time clocks.
Employees might have questions, particularly if new practices differ from
previous methods. Schedule a meeting to discuss the plan and answer any
questions. Emphasize the plan's importance by recognizing departments
that have no injuries for a given period and offering training programs on
preventing injuries.

Executive Summary
Rationale
Pre-test and post-test were conducted to measure the value
added effectiveness of the program. This would also test the
effectiveness of the competency based training program if any of the

areas need to be improved.
Objectives
1. To determine if there is a significant difference in
the pre-test and post-test scores of the trainees.
2. To determine the average mean of the pre-test and
post-test scores of the trainees.
Methodology
Average mean and paired t-test was used in the analysis of the
data. This is to determine if there is a significant difference between the
means of the pre-test and the post-test scores of the trainees.
The graph generated from the pre-test and post-test scores of the
trainees. The red line represents the post-test scores. The blue line
represents the pre-test scores. The red line shows that it is higher than the
blue line which means that the post-test scores are higher than pre-test
scores.

Mean Percentage 41 78.5
Observations 19 19
Pearson Correlation 0.572177429
T - Test 1.23314E-19
The table above shows that pre-test scores ranged from 10to
30 while post test scores ranged from 30 to 40 which means an increase
of scores as shown in the gap between the red line(posttest) and
blue line(pretest). Statistical Analysis showed an average of 31.4 for
posttest and 16.4 for pre-test.
Conclusions
As illustrated in the pre-test and post-test scores, the training format
worked well for the trainees and met the planned learning outcomes. The
trainees could see the relevance of the knowledge, skills and attitude needed
in the training program to the actual work practice, which was clearly
indicated by good post-test results.
Recommendation
Based on the result of the evaluation, it is highly recommended:
1. Ample time should be provided for the trainees for practice.
2. Fast learners should be paired with slow learners.
3. Continue monitoring of the trainees inside (school) and outside (industry)
to better prepare them for the national assessment.
