3.2 Payment System At Vianet

There is a provision of both online and direct payment to the branch offices for the clients
using internet services of Vianet. Direct payement refers to cash deposition according to
bandwidth used, which is deposited in any of the branches of Vianet. Whereas the online
payment system of Vianet is discussed below:

Different online payment partners are integrated with Vianet. They are:
- E-sewa

- Hello Paisa

7
- Nepal Investment Bank

- I-pay

- Everest Bank

- SCT nPay

Following example shows how to pay the bills online through the customer based
online portal of Vianet

Eg: E-Sewa

Pay Vianet internet Bills with eSewa:

1) Go to vianet.com.np and click on Customer from Login Menu

2) Login to Vianet Customer Portal using your Username and Password

3) Check for the unpaid bill(s) from the list of bills for your respective

service and click on e-Sewa button

4) Once you click on eSewa icon it will redirect to new page to esewa portal

where you can login with esewa login id.

5) Once you login with your eSewa Credential, You can check the amounts

that you are going to pay from left panel. Then fill the user information if

you desire. Then to confirm payment click on submit button.

6) . After submitting payment request to eSewa, if transaction is done

successfully, You will be redirected to Vianet Customer portal with

Success message.

8
3.2.1 Problems at online payment system and future plans

Though there are numerous ways for the payment for internet services given by Vianet
many users are not aware of it. Even these online systems tend to be complex and many
users tend to ignore it and make time to pay by going to Vianet’s branches directly. As
per the employees at Vianet’s Thimi Branch more customers choose to pay directly by
coming there. It is also seen that many people who are aware of the thing that they can
pay charges online are reluctant to change. On the other hand, while paying online, there
also comes the privacy privilege which is less seen on any Nepali websites integrating
with e-commerce. So these can be seen as problem for the Vianet’s online payment
system.

So the Vianet tends to have future plan to encourage its users to pay online through
promoting and making them aware about the security and easiness of paying online by
systems like e-Sewa.

CHAPTER 5: FINDINGS

5.1. SWOT Analysis of Vianet

5.1.1. Strengths

a) Large market coverage

b) Cutting-edge fiber-optics technology
c) A respected brand name
d) Excellent customer service and a strong sales team

5.1.2 Weaknesses
Corroded cable lines, slow service and lackluster sales are three weaknesses that can hurt
a telecommunications company. Company weaknesses are competitive deficiencies that
place the company at a disadvantage in the marketplace. If corroded cable lines aren't
replaced and slow service continues, for example, angry customers will switch to a rival
telecommunications company that offers better services.

5.1.3 Opportunities
New technologies, increasing consumer interest and a decrease in competition are just a
few external opportunities that can really help a Vianet in the long run. Opportunities are
beneficial, outside events that a company can use to boost its existing strengths. If Vianet
is keen on rapidly adopting new technologies, for example, would highly benefit from
immediately investing in new fiber optics the moment they're introduced in the
marketplace, especially if they speed up service.

5.1.4 Threats
A sluggish economy, increasing competition and increased government regulations
against the Vianey are just a few external threats that can limit a telecommunications
company's future success. Threats are outside events or influences that create future
hurdles for a company. New rivals that offer customers fast service and cutting-edge
technology, for example, may lure an Vianet company's existing customers away,
especially if it can't offer the same new features.

11
CHAPTER 6: CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS

6.1. Conclusion

After all the analysis, it is seen that the leading Internet Service Provider(ISP) of Nepal
i.e. Vianet’s payment system is also integrated online with different partners like e-Sewa,
SCT nPay, Nepal Investment Bank, Hello Paisa, Master Cards, Everest Bank etc. It is
observed that Vianet’s introduction to FTTH internet connection has benefitted it a lot
and its cheap, affordable and best services, promotions and practices of E-commerce has
helped this company to flourish a lot in ISP’s market. Since, it is an internet service
provider itself so it is well equipped to practice the online payment system keeping the
privacy notes about the users. Vianet thus plans to encourage users for online payment
making them aware about security and ease of using this system. At conclusion, this
company provides the customer based portals online, valuing each and every customer
that encourages online payment system.

Besides that, it also practices the direct payment system at its different branches. In 17
years of existence this company has changed a lot in this working methods and capturing
a lot of markets. Unlike all the ISP, this is leading and successful in the market because
of E-commerce practices and Online Payment System.

12
6.2. Suggestions

Some of the suggestions to Vianet are listed below:

a) Vianet should think about its close competitor’s pricing while making pricing

strategies for its products

b) The ISP market is open for new entrants so different tools for promotion,

customer retention and quality services should be applied by Vianet to maintain

its position in market

c) Online Payment system should be integrated with all the possible banks to make it

easier for the clients

d) Application of E-commerce is must in Vianet to survive the new growing market

e) Integration with IME can also help it for attraction to the new clients, for those

who are staying abroad and paying for their parents living in home country.

f) Most important thing is that Vianet should encourage users for online payment

system and should also think of making good policies for privacy of the clients.
