CFG SEI Strengths & Brain Talents Essay

My top three SEI strengths would be Engaging Intrinsic Motivation, Applying Consequential Thinking
and Pursuing Noble Goals. These strengths are applicable in my academic journey in NUS as with
being able to engage with intrinsic motivation, I will be personally driven to do academically well
without the need for external forms of rewards. This would allow me realise my maximum potential
and make use of my own energy to pursue my goals. This will help to build independence, which can
be extended to my future career. Without the need for the validation of others, I can work without
having to please others and simply for myself. But this should not be misinterpreted as ignoring the
advice and opinions of others, as I would still have to take them into consideration, but I will not
crave the need for praises and rewards. This is applicable in the work force as well, as I will work
towards getting my work done and not for the sake of getting a raise of my boss’s praise. Thi
reinforces the pride that I take in my work.

Being able to apply consequential thinking also makes me be a forward thinker who things with the
end in mind. This allows me to plan ahead, and control my emotions more effectively, as I think
about the possible repercussions and consequences. Being able to keep calm and think logically will
help me to be a more composed person, making sure that I do not act on impulse. This helps to
strengthen my personal relationships, as I can be a form of emotional support for my friends, and
guide them to rational thinking. This can be applicable to the people around me, as I can extend my
judgement to them, and this proves useful in a workplace context, where I am able to think with a
cool head and decide what is best for the company, while being able to clearly examine and evaluate
the benefits in the long run. Even in the academic context, I can prioritize what is important and
what is not, and assess the situation based on the kind of desired outcomes I would expect to occur.

My final strength would be to tap in on my sense of purpose and channel this into achieving my
goals by incorporating it into my daily live and choices. This helps to make life more meaningful and
purposeful as I am constantly driven to work towards my goal, and in the process this can inspire
and engage others to do so as well. This will prove to be an asset to the company, as my driving
force can motivate others to do the same as well. In my academic journey, it will continue to remind
me of the things I want to take away from university.

My strength in consequential thinking will allow me to think ahead rationally about my actions.
Being able to purse my own goals diligently, this can act as a form of motivation for my colleagues
around me, and make the workplace more driven. I am also a hardworking worker and this will
ensure that I give my best in all I do, and I am ultimately meticulous and thorough in my work.
