Thank you for the interest you have taken in Chartwell International School.

Chartwell International School is accredited by Cambridge as a Cambridge International School and

Examination Centre as well. For more information you can visit www.cie.org.uk. We are also
accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia.
These two accreditations allow our students to continue their studies anywhere in the world.
Our schools are situated in pleasant grounds in the peaceful Belgrade suburb of Dedinje, close
to many embassies and residential areas, some 10 minutes’ drive from the city centre.
The essential task of a school is to teach the child to learn, to seek independently and find the
knowledge and skills that it needs in all of life’s situations. To do this, it must develop a love of
learning in the child, an enthusiasm for enquiry that spills over from school into all aspects of
the child’s life. Encouragement and motivation are keywords in Chartwell’s teaching philosophy.
Class sizes are small, up to 15-18 students per class, enough for teachers to tailor the curriculum
to the needs of each child. All children are different, and all need just the right challenges to
make every day an experience of growth and development. This individual attention is an
essential part of Chartwell’s approach.
At the same time, the student’s ownership of the learning process is assisted by a thematic
approach, project work that involves research into several subjects and sets objectives to be
attained. Students can achieve concrete results of which they can be proud.
The atmosphere within a classroom is very much dependant on the teacher. The quality of a
good teacher is in his/her personality and character as much as their qualification and
experience. Chartwell teachers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, but what
they all have in common is a love of teaching, an empathy with their students and a commitment
to their education, All are well qualified for the role that they play.
Chartwell organizes a range of extra-curricular activities. Art / Pottery club, sports club,
computer club, additional language tuition and presentation skills are offered among others. We
are constantly looking at the children’s needs, and exploring new opportunities.
The school has a network of computers that provide the students with controlled access to the
internet. In today’s technological society, computer literacy forms an important part of a
student’s education and computer use is encouraged in all subjects both during and after school.
School Trips - Excursions are frequent. Many interesting and exciting expeditions are planned
for the students to experience the challenges and the rewards of Serbia's wonderful regions
where children can learn about their natural environment, learn to cooperate in outdoor
activities and enjoy themselves thoroughly. Visits have been made to the Museum of Nature,
Academy of Science, art galleries, archaeological site Vinca, museum Nikola Tesla, Rudnik,
Tara, Zlatibor, Resavska cave, monasteries - Manasija and Ravanica and a lot more.
