Avaya MFA VPN Configuration


Weblink vs PULSE – Throughout the transition, the technical team have noticed that the
PULSE preconfigured connections are more stable and have work well in scenarios where you have
to switch between the HP and Avaya VPNs. Aswell as works well with the McAfee Desktop firewall
settings for

How to Configure PULSE

a. Click the PULSE icon on right side of the toolbar.

b. The following app window should open.

c. Click on + sign to add a new connection.


d. Add a connection with a Name and one (or both) of the below Avaya MFA url.

e. Connect to either of the Primary or the Secondary links as you would for the HP VPN.

f. First time it takes longer to download the Juniper Client, but post initial 10-15 minutes on the
first install, it is much quicker from the second attempt onwards.

Why these settings? The Avaya VPNs are hosted out of two Pops one in Singapore (ara-
apac1) and the other Basking Ridge (ara-na2) and the custom Proxy settings enable a more efficient
network route.

Avaya VPN and Corresponding HP Proxy to be used.

How to set IE Proxy

a. Before login to VPN, first add the below proxy under LAN settings. Make sure only one check
box is selected as shown in the below screenshot.

b. Add the following to the exception list
*.share.avaya.com;*.sal.avaya.com;*.global.avaya.com

McAfee Desktop Firewall APCS Custom Rules


By default the desktop firewall policies are HP Generic and need to be corrected for enabling Avaya
softphone and Toolsa connectivity.

Here are the instructions on how to correct that:


a) Open a command prompt as Administrator

b) Type in the following: "c:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\Common


Framework\FrmInst.exe" /customprops2=Avaya

c) The McAfee Agent will start reconfiguring itself. Please wait for it to complete.

d) Once complete, the McAfee Agent icon should reappear in the lower right.

e) Right-click and select McAfee Agent Status Monitor.

f) Click Collect and Send Props. Once it communicates to the server, it will receive the policy
with the rules.

g) The following POLICIES will get populated under the ‘Firewall Policy’ tab.

Avaya Softphone Configuration

Install and Setup of Agent One-X softphone

Agent Softphone Configuration (Needed when you have Agent ID and Extension assigned to you)

b) Add the Extension details to the Login screen under Telephony tab
c) Coppell Server IP for registration 135.60.18.41
d) User Type set as Agent
e) Place and receive calls using option set to My Computer

f) Configure Agent ID details under the Agent tab

One-X Communicator Softphone Configuration (Needed when you have an Extension assigned to
you – no Agent ID assigned)

a) Setup One-X communicator as H.323 endpoint.
